I’m a hardcore lefty. I also live in Texas and have spent most of my career working for nonprofits. That means a lot of red-state right winging. Not the nice, necktie, Laffer-curve, “fiscal conservative, social liberal” guys either. Nice conservatives don’t run charities. They’re comfy where they are. You want to do good in Texas, you need full-on deplorables. You need the churches, the phone trees, the mailing lists. They’re the boots, or at least the sensible shoes, on the ground, knocking on doors and passing out leaflets and stacking donations til 4 in the morning.
Let’s be clear. Philosophically, these people were opposed to my… everything. Hellbound from the haircut down. Tabletop gaming! I had friends at one workplace who loved and collected board games. Me too! Chat went swimmingly until I showed them the dice my beloved sister gave me for Christmas and they told me D&D is a tool of Devil worship. Chilled the conversation somewhat.
But I’m a dope-ass grantwriter, so they put up with me. That by itself is a shot in the gut to “conservatives are bullies.” I spent years in evangelical conservative settings and was never treated poorly, beyond the usual office nonsense. It’s tempting to say “well, you were making them money,” but I wasn’t. They didn’t get to keep the money I made. The money I made went to strangers in desperate straits, people of different faiths, backgrounds, colors than the evangelicals I worked with. Those evangelicals a) put in 80 hour weeks to help them; b) put up with a walking billboard for every value they didn’t have because he could contribute.
Then I lost my job unexpectedly. That comes up in nonprofit work, alas. Budget’s always a shoestring. Still, it sucked. Last day, I was packing up and the woman next to me asked if I was leaving. I said yes. She asked if she could pray for me. I said sure. Do what you like on your own time, right?
Then she took hold of my hands.
Friends, I was not expecting that. I came up Catholic. I am now a Christian pantheist. Laying on of hands? Not a thing in any of that. At all.
And she prayed. No smug. No pity. Not a word of condemnation. Tears in her eyes, because she was worried about me. Praying, because that’s what she could do in that situation. She believed, so she stood with me and tried her best to help.
I’ve never forgotten that. Don’t think I ever will. My beliefs weren’t hers. My faith certainly isn’t hers. There is every reason to suspect I will live out my span and die without ever experiencing another laying on of hands. But this person used the most powerful tool available to her to be profoundly kind to me, at a time when I really, really needed it.
That’s not the act of a bully.
So there’s that.
There's your problem, Matt. Virtually every leftist I have met has been a bully and one who would put anyone they disagree with in Concentration Camps.
D&D was usually the tool of dorks.

Sorry for not seeing this, and yes, while all parties can seek to see law reflecting their ideology, it is the Left which presumes self-proclaimed elitism and fallacious enlightenment, which is from Hell, and seeks to impose this upon the world as a proxy servant of the devil.
But there are some liberals who, while deceived, are sincere in motive, and which can be reached and converted to Christ ("born again") by conservative believers who manifest both the Truth and Love, though hated by the Left overall for doing so.
Indeed. While liberals present themselves as the saviors of the poor (and require others to finance their self-serving agenda) it is actually evangelicals who are engaged in the most substantial humanitarian work.
Well, hopefully, this honest liberal will soon come to realize that most of the bullies are Leftoids.
