The pooch was found abandoned as deputies busted an illicit marijuana grove containing 5,473 pot plants on Wednesday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriffs Office said in a written statement.
(The) small puppy was lying in a pile of plastic, surrounded by fertilizers and hazardous chemicals, the statement said. The puppy was slow to respond and lethargic.
No food or water had been provided for the animal, and temperatures were around 90 degrees. Deputies arranged to have the dog taken to the Santa Maria Animal Center.
This little guy made quite the impression on every detective and deputy on scene, the detective said. He is a little fighter and has quite the story to tell. I am excited to give him the home he deserves. The puppy has not yet been given a name.

Poor little guy. glad he was rescued.
As Grace Slick once asked in song;
“Don’t you want somebody to love?
Don’t you need somebody to love?”
Three Cheers for Pets!!

I support yer post!!
Do you really think she meant a dog?
Maybe just a Weiner!
Looks like the little guy has some Aussie breed in him.
Heeler mix (blue ). Great loyal dogs. Smart, stubborn, great sense of humors and smile!
The acreage next to my parents acreage has had pot heads planting marijuana on it for years. The police used to come in and haul it off about once a year, but they haven’t bothered for a few years since it was legalized. The stuff is growing all over the place down there now. Part of it is planted and part of it is just coming up like weeds.
It is terrible nuisance because my parents have cows and horses and the next door property which is owned by the state is a magnet for scumbags who are constantly leaving the gates open. If the owner was a private party the authorities probably would have arrested them repeatedly. My dad is constantly pulling the stuff up. If the cows eat it... it makes them sick.
Beautiful and very cute puppy! Glad he was saved.
