A dear friend is a licensed PhD psychologist in CA and it took years and the hoops CA makes them jump through are endless.
If for no other reason than the respect I hold for what it took for my friend to gain the license, I’m grateful that Edsel is being called out on this point.

imho, it’s mostly professional GATE KEEPING—to keep the pool of high earning professionals relatively small—as small as workable legally.

I say that largely because EVERY study ever comparing licensed practitioners with unlicensed--there was NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY AND SAFETY OF SERVICE DELIVERED TO THE CLIENTS.

Yet licensing is touted as 100% essential for the SAFETY of the consumer. But it does NOT WORK for that. Just as many licensed professionals were corrupt, sexually dangerous etc. as unlicensed.
