All Dr. Ford did was tell a compelling story while looking and sounding fragile and defeated. She did an excellent job at playing the downtrodden victim, and if you didn’t care about details, corroboration, witnesses, accuracy, etc., you’d have no problem believing her. The coke bottle glasses were a nice touch - poor thing. It’s pretty tough to come down hard on such a homely and pathetic creature. She’s already been through enough, right?
