I love the spinoff “Better Call Saul”.

‘The Sopranos’ was a compelling TV series, very intense. But it was also vulgar and inhumane, from top to bottom. So yeah, I’ll agree with you there.

Life is often vulgar and inhumane

" A ditzy wife married to a relatively level-headed husband? The scriptwriters would be tarred and feathered."

I guess you've never watched "The Middle"....

The only funny Seinfeld episodes were the ones written and produced by Larry David. Everything done on Seinfeld after David left was mediocre.

I’ve never been able to make it through on episode of “The Sopranos”.

The key is to start at number 1 and watch in succession.

Breaking Bad is the best full drama series ever made. Not for everyone, of course, because there is violence. But allowing for violence, it is the best series ever made. It kept to the story from scene one to the final scene. It WAS its title. The cinematography was breathtaking. The direction was unique. The story was unpredictable without being “Boo, We Shocked You Again” like many series. And the acting and characters were brilliant. I’ve never seen tv thst came close. Though one has to admit that Better Call Saul is as close as could be, made by the same people.

Yeah, where is Frasier? Frasier and Seinfeld are two of my favorites. They can be watched over and over and I still laugh.

I Love Lucy could not be made in today’s times. A ditzy wife married to a relatively level-headed husband?

The Middle, which ended last season, pretty much followed that formula.

There should be two categories of Shows.

Those that are / were on Broadcast TV that had to follow a strict set of Rules when it came to Language, Nudity and Situation, and those shown on Cable where there are no restrictions whatsoever.

The Sopranos should be on the List in the second category, not the first. Who would let their Kids watch that show, I certainly wouldn’t.

I still remember the Episode where the Stripper Girlfriend was beat the death behind the Strip Club after she told gangster Boyfriend she was Pregnant. Slamming her head into the Guardrail was gruesome. That same Actress was shown having Sex with two guys, one a Policeman.

That one Episode shocked me unlike any other they Filmed.

Of course I remember TV Shows that ended up teaching Morality as well as being entertaining, but I’m Old.

Thanks for that fun post on a rainy Sunday. I would rate Barney Miller much higher. The issues raised on the show are topical today.
And I would find a place for Sanford and Son and Get Smart.

Out of those 10, the only ones I ever watched were I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, and M*A*S*H, and I was a kid when I Love Lucy was on, and was 12 when The Twilight Zone aired.

"“Death Valley Days” told the definitive American morality tales and influenced many."

Even Wagon Train should be added.
