A Christian man in Australia convinced his wife to commit suicide because she was “too weak to survive the rapture,” which also made him the beneficiary of a 1.4 million dollar life insurance plan according to a report:

An Australian man is being accused of helping his wife commit suicide by convincing her that she was too weak to survive the Rapture, making him the beneficiary of a $1.4 million life insurance plan.

Graham Robert Morant, 69, of Queensland pleaded not guilty recently in the case surrounding the 2014 suicide of his wife, Jennifer Morant, reported the New Zealand-based 1 News Now.

For his part, Morant denies any wrongdoing, claiming that he was unaware that the life insurance policies his late wife had taken out equaled $1.4 million, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Too weak to survive the Rapture... NOT a Christian at all.

No doubt he’s a bad guy... but seriously.... he “convinced” her to kill herself? He didn’t even help her?

A Christian man......? Typical anti Christian bashing in the media. Just stick to covering for criminals from classes you adore and support.

Life insurance policies usually won’t pay out for suicides.

Okay this is how he should have done it...

Step 1. convince his wife the rapture is coming.

Step 2. convince her that if you get rapture she should send herself into the after life.

Step 3. Wake up before wife does.

Step 4. Lay out pajamas on floor between bed and bathroom

Step 5. Quietly Sneak away in the night

( but yeah they should toss the book at this a-hole )

Who is accusing him... the insurance company that would have to pay up?

Suicide is hardly “Christian.”

[ Too weak to survive the Rapture... NOT a Christian at all. ]

Too dumb to wait until you see everyone’s clothing on the ground then put the glock in her mouth and say “Ok, I’m out...” While squeezing the trigger....

I would nominate her for a Darwin award.....

Life insurance policies usually won’t pay out for suicides.

They do but there is usually a clause that says they won't pay out if the suicide occurs within two years of taking out the policy

These people haven’t been immersed in theology. A Christian doesn’t “survive” the rapture. A Christian is gone, baby, gone. Of course, if she wasn’t a Christian — things could be rough.

The first thing I thought when reading the title was that there had to have been a financial side of this. What a scumbag!

“Life insurance policies usually won’t pay out for suicides.”

Yeah, they will - if 2 or 3 years have gone by since they were taken out. By that time, beneficiaries can credibly argue that there was a mental illness that came up in the meantime which caused the act, and that there was no fraud.

It’d be kind of funny (or, maybe, ironic) if only 1 year and 364 days had gone by....

The time requirement varies with the jurisdiction.

"Is suicide covered by life insurance in Australia?

https://tinyurl.com/y7qbvsr9

With the raising awareness of mental illness in Australia, you are now able to buy policies that cover suicide. Having suicide covered by life insurance policies in Australia is common however generally the policy needs to be in place for longer than 13 months from the date of issue.

Mar 24, 2017"
