Your post #1590 CAUTION: possible serious thread slide ahead.

Remember the guitarist Dave Mason? He had a few hits of his own...also did a long stint with the group, Traffic.

Your link to Hendrix’ cover of Dylan’s All Along the Watchtower is great. Dave Mason plays a 12 string acoustic guitar in this recording. And how do I know this?

My sister is EXEC DIR of a theater in my hometown, and years ago she scored one Dave Mason to play there. My sister was shorthanded for the show...she needed a driver and “fetcher” for Mason that evening. Wanted to know if I could do that. Well you betcha, Sis!!! Ultimately, I had little overall contact with Mr. Mason, but I got a private listen of Mason and his group as they tuned up about 1.5 hours before showtime...just me in a theater of 1000 seats. (That’s a wee of a stretch: there was staff but they were busy. I was the only one seated.)

During an interlude during the show, Mason was telling us the story about hanging out with Hendrix over in England back in the day, and Mason suggested to Hendrix that it would be real cool to cover Watchtower. So Mason got that ball rolling and is also on the record.

I’m a fan of Mason’s for this one reason: Mason’s cover of All Along the Watchtower is stupendous and absolutely just rips it. Love his version and could listen endlessly to it. And yes...Watchtower was one of three songs I got to here Mason do in private that one day I was on theater staff!!!

Here ya go. “She’s a real toe-tapper, Clark.”
