Search engine bias - Anyone else notice?
self post | 20180915 | Dogrobber

Today I ran searches for information about the scandal in the Catholic Church. I specifically wanted news related to Italian newspaper reports which hinted that Pope Benedict's dossier on the Gay mafia within the Church was going to be made public. I got little or nothing on the mainline search engines - Google returning only generalized references to the scandal from Legacy media.

I used DuckDuckGo and found sites from alternative Traditional Catholic online sources (ChurchMilitant -OnePeterFive) listed right off on the first page. It seems that search algorithms defer. At the risk of asking a stupid question when I probably already know the answer - are other folks having similar experiences when searching the web about the scandal in the Church? Just asking.

And yeah, I really do know that I am probably asking a stupid question.

Good grief both bing and google came up with the same result. Black American came up first for the first page.

Also searched: Scientists in America and still black came up first.

I searched: “White American scientists and American inventors” and it came up with black first. I guess I would have to go to the 100th page to get White....

Thank you for pointing this out, it is surprising who made the list for being considered to be a scientist or inventor.

It's not a stupid question and it illustrates everything that is wrong with Dark Tech (Gargoyle, FacePlant, Twits, Instamoron).

They cannot and should not be relied upon. MisTrust and verify.

GOOGLE TIPS for luddites and me

Yes jjotto, the advanced search is excellent: https://www.google.com/advanced_search

I prefer manual direction using tips:

I've stated before my difficulties searching for “Ted Cruz” on google, which is even more humorous now that he's ‘challenged’ in the Senate. Drain The Swamp.

Google is what it is, but please avail yourself of the simple search functions and search approaches to get your best results.
Here is what you seek:
https://www.lifewire.com/advanced-google-search-3482174

Don't freak out that there are “20 things” in the list, you'll only use 2 or 3, but learn those, and be a power searcher.
What you are experiencing, having lived 1/2 century or longer, is referred to as ‘accelerating change’. Embrace it.

Learn the advanced google search methods here, ( they're not advanced, unless you've never used them ); be at peace.

example a: For more accurate results, If you must have the phrase, surround it in dbl quotes:
“American scientists”
( Different results, and yes, you'll be amused here as well)

example b: site:(search only ONE website)
site:scientificamerican.com American scientist Texas
site:ford.com ranger truck 2019

example c:
sailing OR boating
either the word sailing or the word boating

Also, search to get NOT a result compendium, but a TARGETED response: such as:
Wini “American scientists” (very good, large list, NOT the only LIST provided)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_scientists#S
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_inventions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_inventions_(before_1890)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_inventions_(after_1991)
enough.

Google is a ‘forward’ search engine, scanning billions of web pages,
Think of it as target data you have not found, and use google as the tool to find it. Google does not yet use FULLY functional AI
and cannot read your mind and should not read your socioeconomic status. We must direct our searches.
And we FREPPERS are eminently and fully capable.

As with buying cars and things: let the buyer (searcher) beware.

If your engaged, remember to look up search tips again in 6 months, they will expand, get better, and so will humanity;
as long as the “library of everything” is protected and supported in love and compassion.

Recommendation: it's now a digital world; WRITE it down for your ancestors, the struggle, and it will persist digitally for a millennia. truth.
We are the first generation that don't have to PUBLISH or BE FAMOUS to persist in history for our families.

Voluntary Disclosure: I own google stock, but rail against their perceived and ‘directed’ censorship/twist on things; so obvious.

What we conclude is that the MSM doesn't want to acknowledge this is a homosexual problem, more than a child predator problem.

It would be easy to stop and prosecute the relatively small number of priests abusing minor girls, if there were not the overarching problem of active homosexual clergy.

Yes. John MacArthur issued a statement on "social justice" and the church today (e.g. What does the Bible say about people being "victims"?) Not surprising, a number of liberal churches don't like this document.

It is apparent Google doesn't like his viewpoint either. When we Googled what MacArthur stated to find what the uproar was all about, all we received were articles condemning John MacArthur's view. We spent a lot of time and effort trying to track down what exactly he said-not what liberal theologians had to say about it. That should tell you MacArthur is spot on and showed the bias of Google.

I use BING all the time. It puts up honest search results. Google is 15% better so if BING is not giving me good results, then I resort to google. Once twice a day.

Chrome Firfox...you can install track me not extension. This ruins google’s tracking of you.

Also g-mail and other google apps I use... I use them all only on MS Edge. And since I use Edge only for google stuff then Edge is the only place they can track my searches which are very limited on Edge

My prime browsers are - Firefox Chrome and Opera to a lesser extent.

Opera is super cool for not being tracked..... It has an incognito window that you can use Opera’s free VPN service with. Yes free VPN!

Absolutely. All that Google returns in the first page is stories from the liberal rags.

I’ve used google. It is extremely biased. Search for blacks killing cops you’ll see that it changes it to cops killing blacks.

Yep. Just tried it and got the same results.

Wow!

That's amazing....the results are mostly black or blame white privilege for why whites invented so much.

Just found this onlne:

“AltaVista was a Web search engine established in 1995. It became one of the most-used early search engines, but lost ground to Google and was purchased by Yahoo! in 2003, which retained the brand, but based all AltaVista searches on its own search engine.”
