When deputies arrived at Walkers house, they found the shirt that that the suspect wore during the break-in on Walkers front porch with glass from the Family Dollars door still on it. Deputies also recovered several full cold bottles of Corona and dishwasher pods in the trash can that Walker and Hilliard were standing next to.

They used to shoot looters. Still a good policy.
Family Dollar originates somewhat in that area, the Carolinas I believe. Decent store, hey, should they open early on Sundays or work people on Holidays, this stuff, I don’t go along with.

Laundry detergent is a popular item to steal because it’s expensive per ounce and everybody uses it.
I agree in principle but after experiencing a couple of hurricanes in Florida, truth is all that stuff is going to get thrown away.
The power in my local Publix went out for six hours and everything that was cold had to be tossed in the trash. all the bread and produce had to be tossed in the trash. They're not allowed to sell anything that could possibly be contaminated.
Some guy wants to steal beer from the Quik-E-Mart in the middle of a hurricane? Well, I wouldn't do it personally but I'm not going to shoot him over it either.
So circumstances determine the morality? Beer isn’t going to go bad. If someone is starving and steals a loaf of bread, well, I get that. Beer and laundry detergent?
No, I probably wouldn’t shoot him but he better get charged and replace whatever he destroyed.

Family Dollar originated in Charlotte. It was started by the Levine family, whose name is on hospitals, community colleges, and the Jewish Community Center. FD was bought out by Dollar General a few years ago.
