NBC Sunday Night Footballs coverage of the Packers win over the Bears averaged about 19.4 million total viewers and a 6.6 demo rating in the fast nationals, down 11 and 17 percent from last seasons Sunday opener.
Last years Cowboys/Bears match-up went on to report 24.4 million viewers and a 9.1 rating in finals.
Over on ABC, Miss America (4.3 mil/0.7) dropped 20 and 26 percent from last years pageant.
Elsewhere, CBS Big Brother (5.7 mil/1.5) rose 21 percent and two tenths from last Sunday, while Foxs Rel sneak preview drew 5.1 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating leading out of football, ranking as the nights top-rated entertainment program.
Football is the new boxing.
Sure boxing is still around, but it’s popularity is a shell compared to in its’ heyday.
And they chose the ugliest black girl as miss America. With totally horrible singing as her skill. Shrieking pretend-opera. Ye gads.
I accidentally tuned in to the last hour of Miss America, as Ross the Intern (from Jay Leno, two decades ago) introduced the finalists who gave their lame personal slogans. I enjoyed those in the talent portion who actually had some. My favorites became Runner up #1 (classical piano) and Miss America (opera). I was pleased with the outcome.
I thought they would go for the homely little Hispanic girl who totally butchered the song she sang. I guess the heavy Black bias of the judges carried the day.
My wife pointed how many of the contestants had women, Black or gender studies as minors. Guess that was a plus.
Just think if you had spent $40 to see it at a movie theater.
I dunno, I think Wonka is appropriate for nearly any thread.
We used to watch football all day as a family for the past however many years. Not this year. Yesterday we introduced the kids to Mel Brooks’ “History of the World Part I”. I haven’t seen my 17 year old laugh that much since we introduced him to Animal House.
Glad to see you are introducing your kids to real comedy movies. Hope you’ve also shown them “Blazing Saddles” and “Young Frankenstein”, two of Mel Brooks’ best ever!
It’s really tragic what passes for comedy these days. It’s either insult the Republicans, Conservatives or White Men (or any combination of the 3), run a cute gag over and over because it’ll be hilarious after the 10th time, or drugged out dreck that make Cheech and Chong sound sober.
love it. thanks for the good news.
You’re welcome. :D
Well, looks like I can write the Lions off for yet another year.
