Homeowners in Leander, Texas neighborhood distressed over rattlesnake invasion

A subdivision in a small Texas town north of Austin is facing a dangerous influx of rattlesnakes...Brown came across a baby rattlesnake in his own yard, where his two-year-old daughter and three dogs often play...According to KXAN, local authorities are aware of the issue, but to Brown's knowledge, they haven't done much other than recommend people take preventive measures by cleaning up any overgrown brush or getting rid of places where snakes can hide...As for Brown, he thinks the snakes are victims too and people should heed the recommendations from authorities. I don't want a child, adult, or dog to be bit," Brown said. "I just think people could pick up stuff in their yards, and have situational awareness. If the snakes have no reason to take up residence in your yard, they will go elsewhere."

Fried rattlesnake.

The protagonist and love interest grill a rattlesnake not long before they get to know each other better in Collateral Crimes

Rated PG13

I doubt the snooty liberals in a burb of Austin would want large, screeching birds in the backyards...

Are you kidding: Rainbow Birds!

No, wrangle as many as possible and then resettle them at the prominent illegal crossing sites along the border. Win for the snakes, win for the U.S.

I’m in Georgia now. Just had a 7’ Eastern killed on the road, a mile from our house. Very fat snake!

Haven’t seen a rattler myself but will dispatch same when I do.

I've been here 9 years and haven't seen one yet, either. Just a few small scorpions. Arizona plants, however, have minds of their own and will leap out and attack you. Just moved to a new house in a somewhat more rural suburb, and everything growing in my front yard is ultra spiny...and hungrily awaiting its chance. :)

Thanks! It was scary but we think she will be fine. It’s just pretty unpleasant right now - the bite area is turning purple but she has a good pulse in that area.

I’m glad your brother came out of it okay. I am surprised at the amount of pain she has had - I guess I shouldn’t be I thought it would just make your really sick but she’s been on morphine and some oral medication as well. I’m hoping she won’t be in there too long but a week is what I’m thinking.

Actually after talking to some other people I’m thinking maybe a week before she comes home.

New Mexico, it is my late MIL’s house. She killed hundreds of them in her day.

I once stayed in an old ranch house in Aspermont, TX. that put my son’s place to shame. The old foreman was a snake wrangler and gathered them up and sold them.

The beds were high off the floor and there was a string for the lights right over the bed because you needed to check for rattlers before you got up for any reason.

He said they hit him with demirol first and it never fazed the pain. Then came the opioid heavy hitters and it stopped it. I hope she gets better quickly!

Time for some target practice.

The Braves used the Diamondbacks' bullpen for target practice.

Arizona is the only state I’ve ever been where some of their Rattlesnakes are protected and you’ll go to jail if you kill one of them.

><

That must be the most ignored law in Arizona.

Nah... the protected ones are so rare you never see them...:^)

As an earlier posting said - If you leave them alone they won't bother you. Just don't step on one.

I even drove around the one in the middle of my driveway two evenings ago - they eat pack rats that are far more destructive to your stuff.

They are clever reptile though... I saw one take a short cut and swim across our pool.

Man, you’re gutsy. What if you were in the pool and that sucker wanted to take a short cut? Lol

Beautiful pool, too.

I was thinking about your nine diamondback post as I went to sleep last night, and came to the conclusion I misunderstood your carefully crafted message. I knew I missed the baseball reference. Well done.
