(KMSP) - The National Weather Service reports some record-breaking cold temperatures for Sept. 6 in northern Minnesota with both International Falls and Hibbing finding themselves waking up to a very chilly morning.
International Falls reached 28 degree Thursday, breaking the previous record of 31 degrees for Sept. 6. Hibbing fell to 29 degrees, breaking the previous record of 33.
Though not a record, Robinson, Minnesota near Ely was a chilly 25 degrees.
Summer was nice while it lasted.
Brought to you by “climate change”.
Science and facts, you republican and conservative losers!
/sarcasm
On Lake Millacs in Minnesota there are huge ice shack villages. They even put up street signs on the ice, and iirc - one of them has (had?) a U.S. Post Office for the winter.
My sister was walking around one of the lakes in Minneapolis with a guy visiting from Australia. He didn’t believe her that they were ice fishing. “So we end up walking over to one that had some smoke coming out of the chimney and knocked on the door.”
Is that the entire city? I require more civilization if so, but living on lake ice part time is ok by me. Beats living in swamp water!
Hey , I hung a rubber chicken(wearing tights and a cape) from my balcony who does the same thing! Larry the Wonder Weather chicken! Except if he’s melted, it’s summer and if he’s gone, it’s a hurricane.
That’s a few of the more than 5,000 fish houses on Lake Mille Lacs once the ice fishing season gets underway. Enthusiasts hope for Thanksgiving or earlier start on other northern lakes.
There are places that will store ice fishing houses and allow owners to use them as cabins the rest of the year.
Portent of winter to come nationally?
OMG this global warming is going to kill us if it keeps up like this.
I’m hoping for a cold, snowy winter.
I like it like that.
Joe Bastardi and the Farmer’s Almanac say bad winter, at least for the eastern two-thirds and the northern tier of states.
Hey, whaddya want? We got six weeks or so above freezing. That's tropical for this godforsaken frozen hellhole.
Algore could not be reached for comment.
Is International Falls anywhere near Frostbite Falls?
(Moose and Squirrel reference)
Dang, you beat me to the Rocky and Bullwinkle aside!
Waiting to see the maple trees turn into their brilliance, but Florida palms doesn’t change... Don’t the weather knows it is still Summer?
I think they’re both in Koochiching County, not far from Moosylvania, Bullwinkle’s family territory.
I’m up here in Maine and I like snow also, as long as I don’t lose power.
It’s been cool, wet, and fallish in my part of the country. Some leaves are Brown and falling, others yellow. The green ones have that yellowish cast to them. It looks more like October than late August/early September. And I’ve only had one ripe tomato all season so far.
On the other hand, it’s nice to draw that cool evening air in with a fan than to have to run the AC.
