I bought a 1960 Valiant with a straight “Slant Six” with 50k miles for $450 when I was in college. Drove it through college and gave it to my little brother when I joined the Navy. I came back from the Navy in 1974 and the dealer called and wanted to buy the car back for $400. They wanted the engine. As far as I know, that engine is still running an irrigation pump somewhere in South Dakota.

I put 330,000 miles on my 95 Mercedes E300D (straight 6) and 350,000 on my 85 300TD (straight 5)

I had a 62 Lancer push button slant 6 for several years. Ran as smooth as a sewing machine.
