Woman Mauled To Death By A Pit Bull She Rescued 2 Weeks Earlier

Conway had adopted the pit bull two weeks prior from a rescue out-of-state.

Her sister, Susan Eve LeClair, said Conway was no stranger to pit bulls which is why she had rescued the one she was walking at the time of the attack.

“She cared so much about her animals that she had taken this dog,” LeClair said.

Conway’s family is mourning and is at a loss for words.

“Everybody is devasted,” LeClair said. “I don’t know that there are lessons to be learned or not,”

Police said the dog showed some signs of aggression.

“The dog was on a leash but lunging and barking, they tried to subdue him but ultimately had to euthanize him,” said Sherry Llewellyn with Howard County Police.

“There was obviously something wrong with this dog, but Robin was a wonderful wonderful person,” LeClair said.

I found a pit bull in my yard a few weeks ago. He was friendly but a bit wild. He playfully left some bite marks on my arm and his jaws were big enough to encircle my forearm. The strength of his jaws freaked me out a little bit. I would have hated to have gotten him angry. I managed to find his owner and was happy to get him out of my hair.

The garbage breed strikes again. Sad.

Work in your own cities and towns for PB bans.

The guys on the NJ talk station were talking about this yesterday. The one fellow said that pit bulls make up about 7% of the dog population (in the US, I suppose), yet they are responsible for 75% of fatal dog attacks. Which was kind of astounding, if true, who can be sure anymore about these kinds of stats.

Was it a male dog, maybe the death can be blamed on a toxic male culture...

Before I invest any thought or emotion, does anyone know how she voted?

Lol - good one. Considering she was defying reality, I can pretty much guarantee you how she voted.

Interesting statistic.

I’m thinking unless you get one at birth, you can never trust a pit. I hate to sound like a bastard, but I would euthanize every pitbull that goes to a pound. Too much risk.

I don’t know that there are lessons to be learned in your post or not? ;-)

That would be about 95% of the dogs at our local pound. Seriesly. We used to visit the pound with the kids...adopt the occasional dog.

Not worth the trip anymore...nothing of value there now. (Plus, the kids have grown up.)

So sad! The dog must have badly abused before he had been adopted.

Of course, everyone knows pit bulls only attack if they are”badly abused” first.
