Modern granite carvings are done with precision cutting machines; no one would pound it and if they managed not to break the surface, there is no way pounding can produce exact copies such that each side is a mathematical image of the other and even to creating proportions which are Fibonacci spirals and other mathematical formations.

Absolutely agree with that. Their achievements are beyond amazing. I was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art the other day marvelling at their incredible sculptures and carvings.
