I am a bicyclist and I hate a lot of the cycling advocates. They can’t seem to understand that you don’t win by making people hate you more.

I don’t flaunt laws, run over people or block traffic. I choose routes that don’t interfere with drivers. I almost never have an issue with drivers.

In the end, I want the same thing the automobile drivers want, mutual courtesy, respect and safety. I’ve said for years that bicycles used on roads should be subject to a yearly safety inspection just like a car. Road cyclist should also have to pass a signs and rules test like a moped, scooter or small motorcycle. Cyclist should be required to have a picture ID, just like a driver.

Things that make cycling safer also make driving safer. For example, a paved shoulder on roads benefits both drivers and cyclist. I don’t like “bike lanes” because people park in them and they tend to be poorly thought out.

I despise your wish list:

Yearly safety inspection just like a car?
Pass a signs and rules test like a moped, scooter or small motorcycle?
Required to have a picture ID, just like a driver?

But I might have to join you in the anti-cycling-advocate advocacy that will likely bring it to pass.

Keep your hands off my last bastion of freedom! Keep up the good cycling behavior and get rid of that list.

Pretty much same for me as a bicyclist. Most confusion for me occurs when a multi-use 'trail' crosses a city street with stop signs for all. If I wait for the cars that are stopped, they wave me through with irritation as they are already stopped. Courtesy on both sides generally is met but watch out for the jacked-up pickups, there is a lot of ego there.
