“”It would likely not be as great a priority to the police as it would the family and the victim””

That might be true but on the other hand, why on earth would we need police in any city if that was true? It’s their job - they have the resources - the family likely will not. I can’t believe someone in the neighborhood hasn’t stepped forward - the person probably walks/jogs in that neighborhood daily. She has a dog to walk so that’s the way she does it and no doubt every day. We have people walking dogs in our neighborhood and we see them daily and certainly know where they live.

Are you going to check and see how this turns out and let us know? Hopefully, it will be to the victim’s benefit that everything will work out well for her. None of us would want to be in that position. I don’t walk much anymore but even going to the road to the mailbox, I am aware of my surroundings as there’s no way I could fight off a dog - any dog. It’s a good reminder to me to take the stick with me that I use to get the flag off the roof when the wind blows it up there...or a gun....

Please, do take something to protect yourself. Always. Not all potential problems have four feet and fur. Some have two feet and bad intent.
