All too familiar story. Single mom meets man. Man doesn't want the kids from the other man around. It doesn't often end in murder but there are lots of people out there with "stepdads" that can attest that they were just not wanted around anymore when mommy's new boyfriend came on the scene.
That said, there are exceptions. Some step-dads are absolutely wonderful. But, they are exceptions.
