Demonstrators plan to meet around 11:30 a.m. Monday before marching onto the Kennedy. The goal is to block both inbound and outbound traffic.
several reasons: the lack of education and economic opportunities on the South and West Sides; to end the violence that grips those same neighborhoods; and to demand the departure of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson.

All valid complaints no doubt. But blocking access to the airport on one of the busiest travel days of the year is, shall we say, counter-productive.
Today's Illinois Nazis are from the left and are untouchable by the media.
At this point what they need can only come from themselves. One person deciding that he is going to get sober. One mother that turns off the TV and disciplines her children. Someone who gets up in the morning and finds a job and keeps it. Someone with courage to drop a dime on a drug dealer. Simple things happening one step at a time.
We are all out of magic wands.
There is, however, a limit at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue. Edmund Burke 1769
If they impede a Federal highway, to cause damage and delay to a Federally licensed carrier, shouldn’t they be charge with interfering with interstate commerce, or something?
Strange... I don't have any of these problems since I gave up flying in 1996. I'd rather drive. Being retired has its privileges :)
Sometimes I really miss Mayor Daley.
“Damage to jet intakes if they get on the ramp. Guess all the cops from 68 are retired or dead by now.”
You’re making me nostalgic to see a good old Chicago style “Hickory Shampoo”.
Great timing. I’m on the road at the moment and will be returning home on Monday and I’m thanking my luck that I’m not routed through O’Hare. Ground transportation issues shouldn’t affect transfers but messing up the airport with a jam of stuck local passengers will. The media will blame Trump.
LOL! And it was a dem convention at that. Ouch! Mayor Daley was kinda of like, “I don’t care who you are, you don’t come to my city and start crap!” I was a little busy in ‘68 myself.
The Dan Ryan Expressway runs through the bad neighborhoods on the South Side. They don’t want to block an expressway in the areas they claim to be concerned about.
I think they want to get news coverage. Blocking the Dan Ryan or marching up and down Martin Luther King Drive will not get the same media coverage, as blocking the Kennedy Expressway.
Well, Rahm, what will you do? These people are blaming you, a good Democrat, for their problems. You and other Democrats have run Chicago since about the 1920s, I believe? How is that working out for you?
If they are intellectually honest, there’s no way they can blame any of the problems on Republicans, because Democrats have run Chicago for generations.
The airport and its travelers caused these problems?
These people know the airport and travelers didn’t cause the problems. They are lashing out, lashing out at a “white power structure” or some such pablum.
Load them on one way plane trips back to the deepest darkest Africa.
To protest the (racist, democrat national socialist party’s) mayor and police chief for not prosecuting the racist (democrat-voting) thugs shooting each other?
Sound good to me!
These malcontents are taught from the day they are born that it’s not their fault, that it’s the fault of racism and whitey intentionally holding them back. My sister teaches math to these types of inner city kids. The attitudes they have ingrained in them are just unbelievable. They are able to really get through to less than 10% of them.
Back in the 70s my uncle in Chicago gave me many warnings about the Dan Ryan, which he called "Nairobi Junction".
If the fools try to shut it down, it’s time for DHS to break out some of their (our) 2+Billion pieces of ammo and MOW them down!
It won’t change anything in Chicago itself, but the “optics” could be bad for Democrat congressional candidates all over.
I was a little busy in 68 myself.
Funny you should mention that time frame?
I was ah, ah, indisposed(?)’68, ‘69 and ‘70, myself.
Indisposed, yes that’s the ticket!
