For those who don’t know an Operations Specialist is a Navy Rating that is responsible for directing aircraft once they are airborne and in flight. Will also hear them called AICs and ASACs but those are training specialties for an OS not a rating in and of itself. AICs handle intercepts (typically aircraft) while ASACs typically handle sub prosecution with helms.

I was a CICO on my first command and my OSs ate the lunch of the other FFG OSs stealing their Link communications of the other ship’s hells and rerouting them to prosecute subs as we saw fit during training exercises....our CO was in such a good mood he didn’t yell at us for 3 whole days!
