But, Appy, he is our President Pompous Windbag Idiot Trump, and is well loved.
I think most people are waiting for John to be put in the ground before they form a very long line and “pay their respects”.
I would say the McLame did not so much reach across, as reach around. . . . (evil grin)
Watching it now on periscope. Bill Clinton is the token white person on stage. Next to jessie and al. Hillary is in audience somewhere i guess
Hillary is probably not capable of standing so long and has to keep seated.
Now i see hillary. She is on stage but way off to one side. Seriously, I never saw so many brothers in suits in one place in my life...
Aretha produced things that we enjoy.
She added to the American experience.
People loved her.
NONE of that can be said about McCain.
“If I were A Carter, Bush, Clinton & Obama, etc., I can assure all of you...none of you will ever be honored like JFK & Ronald Reagan was by the rank & file American people!!! You Reap What You Sow!!!”
You got that right mate! I voted for Nixon but didn’t hate JFK...he was my CIC at the time. Indeed, the white hot democrat inspired hatred we are witnessing today is a relatively new phenomena which..to my eyes..began with the LBJ era. The assassination of JFK was a national shocker profoundly affecting everyone who lived through the episode like nothing else. It unified the nation in a morose yet elegant way. The only thing since that has approached it was 9/11. We saw how long that lasted.
“I just saw Hitlery and BJ on FNC. Hitlery was sitting. She must be all tired out.”
I want to see her collapsing and tossed into that black meat wagon again...and again...and again...
“before they form a very long line and pay their respects.
Wait’ll U C the lines 4 Ol’BJ and the Obumster !
Was there this much fanfare when Jeremiah Denton passed away? He was also a Senator and a prisoner in North Vietnam. Or was it ignored because he was a faithful conservative?
I hope so.
Last time I was there was 1981 doing the Lord’s (goverment) business. Rather enjoyed it. Some great inspired building going on and good vibes in the air. Guess it deteriorated since then.
“Seriously, I never saw so many brothers in suits in one place in my life...”
They crank out 10-30 funerals like that per week in Chicagoland.
Off topic, but we saw Candi Staton in concert two nights ago.
Great soul/gospel singer who was nominated for Best New Artist Grammy. She lost to Aretha Franklin.
Probably
McCain never could draw much of a crowd.
In 2008 presidential candidate McCain drew only about 200 to a campaign venue in Louisiana.
When presidential candidate Obama was touring Europe [Germany], presidential candidate McCain flew to a small town in New Hampshire to campaign. McCain was met at the airport by one (1) reporter and no supporters.
Vice presidential candidate Palin and presidential candidate Obama were the ones drawing the crowds in 2008.
What a true shame it is that when a far more deserving figure, Bob Dole, passes, he won’t get one-tenth the coverage that McCain is getting.
Music is kicking up now. Dont know who this guy singer is. Even hillary was on her feet. She cant clap in time, but she hasnt burst into flames yet
I couldn't disagree more. I'm a Boomer and know something about the 60's music, not to mention being a musician at the time. I used to drive my friends crazy in my car with Aretha, The Miracles, The Temps, The Four Tops, The Supremes, et al, playing on my 8 track while they wanted to hear the banal Flower Power crap that had no soul. I'd really drive them nuts when I would play the early 60's girl groups like the Shirelles, Chiffons, Ronettes, Martha and the Vandellas, Crystals, Marvelettes, Cookies, etc.
Other than the R&B influenced Stones, there were few one-hit wonders that had any soul. Even the early Beatles were bubble-gum pap. I still listen to the above groups to this day. I have a flash drive of nothing but early girl groups. Also, Phil Spector produced much of that music. Yeah, he turned out to be a murdering a-hole, but he was a soulful genius in his early days.
C'mon, Chain of Fools by Aretha compared to What a Day For a Daydream? Please.
Sidenote: Carol King wrote the classic, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by the Shirelles, among many others that would surprise you. That's why they made a musical and now movie about her. It's not so much about her solo singing days, but her song-writing. She even wrote for The Drifters.
