It was a late summer afternoon, Sally Dale recalled, when the boy was thrown through the fourth-floor window.
“He kind of hit, and— ” she placed both hands palm-down before her. Her right hand slapped down on the left, rebounded up a little, then landed again.
For just a moment, the room was still. “Bounced?” one of the many lawyers present asked. “Well, I guess you’d call it — it was a bounce,” she replied. “And then he laid still.”
Sally, who was speaking under oath, tried to explain it. She started again. “The first thing I saw was looking up, hearing the crash of the window, and then him going down, but my eyes were still glued—.” She pointed up at where the broken window would have been and then she pointed at her own face and drew circles around it. “That habit thing, whatever it is, that they wear, stuck out like a sore thumb.”
A nun was standing at the window, Sally said. She straightened her arms out in front of her. “But her hands were like that.”
There were only two people in the yard, she said: Sally herself and a nun who was escorting her. In a tone that was still completely bewildered, she recalled asking, Sister?
Sister took hold of Sally’s ear, turned her around, and walked her back to the other side of the yard. The nun told her she had a vivid imagination. We are going to have to do something about you, child.

This is worse than I could have imagined.
I wonder when our resident l white washers are going to show up and tell is that kids are more likely to be abused like that at home or in public achools.
Too many people are corroborating the stories.
One or two isolated accusations are one thing.
This is scores of people, easily over 100.
I don’t believe the conspiracy idea in this case.
I don’t think anyone believes that the entire Catholic church was abusive.
I don’t.
But it’s become abundantly obvious that too many abuses have been covered up by the Church for far too long.
If the church won’t open up and purge itself of these elements then the proper authorities MUST step up and investigate and prosecute anyone who abused children.
Relax, people. This garbage was published by Buzzfeed and is likely to be based in about as much fact as their other recent “salacious and unverified” publication: the Steel Dossier.
It’s just as likely nuns threw little boys out windows as that Donald Trump paid hookers to urinate.

It too quickly came to my mind about that made up accusation of the nuns in Ireland a while ago, that people were making a big deal of, that was scurrilous. And they kept trying to sell it. Sor@$$ evil ways knows no bounds and he is viciously out to hurt the Church.
We can always count on you to be bashing Catholics on Catholic threads, that are not Caucus’d, and we know what that is necessary :(
I went to Catholic school for 3 years. It was a *great* education. Honestly if I could do it all over again, I would've gone to a Catholic school K-12. Maybe college too. When I went back to a public school, most of my classes seemed easy.
I agree with your comments above: I NEVER saw any type of a hint of physical and/or sexual abuse in this school, nor did 6 of my cousins who attended another Catholic school K-12 across town.
Never even saw the ruler on the wrist, but some misbehaving boys were grabbed by the ears, lol. The rest of us who did something wrong were made to kneel on the floor for awhile. It was a badge of honor for some of the kids. ;-D
I had a really hard time with geometry and algebra in the 7th grade... the crankiest nun in the school taught this class. She was a terror in the classroom. However,when I had to 'stay after class' to be further tutored one-on-one by this nun, she was extremely kind and patient. It was amazing... my math scores improved after those sessions.
My Catholic school experience was tough, but overall very positive. Last I heard, this school no longer has any nuns... they're all lay teachers. Kind of sad.

LOL! My mother (now deceased, born in 1923) was a ‘Super Catholic’, but even she enjoyed that Blues Brothers movie... especially the nun! :-D

I wrote above about my positive experience in Catholic school, but -- just because my experience (and others I know) happened to be good -- doesn't mean it was good for everyone.

The liberal tactic of discrediting the messenger to sabotage the message is disgusting.

I had the same experience in Catholic school (8 years). The nuns were tough but then the parents expected that. When we got in trouble with the nuns, we hid it from our parents because we’d get it again! It was very much a working-class, immigrant ethic with both the teachers and the parents. My husband’s Italian grandmother in the Bronx had a wooden spoon for when her son came home with a note from Sister!
I was also a baby boomer and people forget that during those days - the early 60s - there were up to sixty kids in a class. You had to be tough to maintain discipline. And they did!
I cannot fathom how you can defend this sort of stuff.
How do you live with yourself?
Well, if condemning sin and abuse of children is *Catholic bashing*, then it’s a label I wear as a badge of honor.
I’d far rather be guilty of that than whitewashing and covering up the kind of horrific abuse Catholicism has inflicted on far too many people.
