No one ever talks about the specifics of a wedding....the things that a bride obsesses over.

Cake, flowers, napkins, color schemes, dresses, etc etc etc etc. 98% of the people attending could care less.

I had a fantastic wedding. Mrs WBill stressed over whether the napkins were the correct shade, and if the flowers matched properly to the whatever. And if the caterer brought the this instead of the that. And a million other things, long since forgotten.

A long, long time later, what do people talk about? Who was there. Who they saw for the last time (it was the last time all of our grandparents' generation got together).

"A Fantastic Party" is the only thing everyone who attended has ever said to me. And it was. We could have met in a barnyard in T-Shirts and Flip Flops, and so long as everyone was comfortable and well-fed, no one would have cared.

We had about 30 guests at our wedding and it cost us a total of $100 ($25 each to the Pastor, Organist, Janitor, and the church fund). I don't count the white Pendleton wool jacket and skirt my wife wore since she used it many times after we married.

Our reception was at my house, my parents paid for the food, my oldest brother paid for the booze, and my best friend's sister made the wedding cake. All those items were our wedding gifts from those people.

The folks who are still around still comment on how wonderful the whole thing was.

By the way, our wedding was almost 37 years ago and we are still together.
