A sponsor announced on Friday that it has ended its partnership with NASCAR driver Conor Daly after it was reported that his father used racially insensitive language during an interview in the early 1980s.
Lilly Diabetes pulled its sponsorship from Conors No. 6 car in Saturdays NASCAR Xfinity race, citing his fathers alleged use of the N-word 35 years ago, reported Fox News.
Derek Daly, a retired Indy 500 and Formula One driver, was fired days earlier from his role as WISH-TVs Racing Analyst due to the controversy.
In a statement, the elder Daly admitted to using the word, but denied its connotation.
I was a foreign driver now in America, driving for an American team, with an American crew, and with an American sponsor and that if things did not go well, the only n in the wood pile would be me, Derek Daly wrote, saying that the expression was common in his native Ireland and didnt carry the same racist connotation.

They don’t put you in prison in the corporatist totalitarian state, just take away your job, your ability to make a living for saying the wrong thing.
How stupid is this? Very. Shame on Lily.
It’s beyond stupid.
Not stupid. Vicious.
Both father and son had better keep a close watch on their 6.
Someone had to cull through a set of 35 year tapes to find this one comment. Then, push that onto Social (lynching) media.
Make no mistake - this was a hit, pure and simple.
So just who ‘released’ this gem???
When is someone going to punish the blacks and the browns economically and socially for the blatant anti-white racism and bigotry that occurs almost daily now, much less decades ago?
Specifically, the anti white male varuett>
I heard that back in 1947, my father said the word: Negro.
So if they want to play that game, let’s go after Algore because his dad voted against the Civil Rights bill.
Insanity
Done by capitalist and private enterprise entities that are acting like a Soviet style regime.
Are there no limits to this madness? When is someone going to say enough, this is ridiculous?
Its America’s “Cultural Revolution”
This is exactly how the Khmer Rouge operated.
The way it’s done in Norkland:
A political offense results not just being sent to the camp, not just one’s family, but also the next three generations.
Does the LBJ family sponsor any NASCAR drivers.
I thought that the most common word in the Irish language was the F word.
Yeah, instead of Mao's little red book we have Zuckerberg's.
I get the feeling that the President is the last gasp of the values of 20th Century America.
So stupid. The thought control commissars are hard at work. Go back a little and all these people most likely had relatives who may have used insensitive wording on occasion.
They have no problem casting stones when it fits their agenda.
Pray for guidance.
