I long felt 1967 was the best year in R&R history.
What I remember back then are those hippie films like Go Ask Alice and I’m pretty sure Dear Mr Fantasy was part of the soundtrack.
and Summertime Blues from the Whos Live at Leeds record
My favorite for sure...and Sgt Pepper came out in May of that year.
The Who Sell Out is my favorite.
Live At Leeds...a staple of my collection.
Blue Cheer did an awesome version too!
Ed just couldn’t deal with all the craziness and fighting and left to go back to Cali.
Damn they were good though.
‘and Sgt Pepper came out in May of that year.’
a month before my high school graduation...of course, being a jock I knew nothing about it...
Not just a-kiddin’... I used to have to sit down when I’d go into the high-end room at a well known regional guitar retailer, and see that an acoustic guitar from the 1860s was running over $20K. Now there are older electrics (not as old as me of course) where one has to ask the price, it’s not on the tag, I suppose there’s a lot of daily volatility.
Lynyrd Skynyrd actually opened for the Alarm Clock when they were still a cover band back in the late 60's. Ed king said that he encouraged them to keep writing their own stuff, back then. Imagine that.
Artemis is a registered sex offender. IIRC he dabbled in some young girls.
Per Ebay looks like the original flames album cover are going for up to $50.
I remember selling mine for $10 around 1990 to a record shop.
Well I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well I heard old Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don’t need him around anyhow
Not a band you wanted to follow onstage. The Stones engineered a two hour power outage a Knebworth rather than coming on and sounding flat after them
“I think that original cover would fetch some serious dough, after the crash they had to change the album cover”
I’ve got one and it’s not really worth more than you average old LP. They sold a ton of them before it was pulled. The inserts in the album are interesting. There is a tour of the states list there. Found out they would have played Houston on New Years eve with Dickie Betts “Great Southern” and Little Feat. That would have been one to remember
Not sure if it’s still accurate, but about 8 or 10 years ago, Sweet Home was said to be the most often played song in the world on radio. I still hear it almost daily somewhere
