Star Wars actor Adam Driver is bringing his northern Indiana hometowns hate group history to light after saying Ku Klux Klan rallies were frequent during his childhood and that some of his neighbors were Klan members. The Mishawaka native made the comments during a USA Today interview about his role in the new movie BlacKkKlansman, the Indianapolis Star reported.
If anything, I was more aware of it as a kid growing up in Indiana, because there were always Klan rallies, like, every summer, Driver, 34, told USA Today. There were people in the Klan who were in our neighborhood.
Indiana University professor emeritus James Madison said he doesnt doubt that Driver was exposed to the KKK but doubts he saw many, if any, rallies.

It dawns on me this might have been orchestrated as a backdoor attack on Pence. These scum think Trump is about to get impeached, so have to be ready to go after Pence.
So around the time this guys grandparents were born?
Im not buying that there were large, active organizations in the 1990s.
I’ve lived in Indiana for all of my 70 years and have never seen or heard of a klan rally or anything of that type.
Oh Ive never seen or heard of one either. The klan of Indiana ceased being an organization in 1925.
Probably Notre Dame professors
Bingo. He's way too young for that.
My loser brother-in-law was in the KKK for a while, in South Carolina in the 70s, but this kid wasn't even born then.
The KKK took my baby away.
Evansville was a hotbed of clan activity in the 70s.
I grew up in Evansville. In my teenage years in the 80s, there were rumors of Klan activity down by the river. Some friends and I (I was in high school) went near there with binoculars, telescopes, etc. We did see about 15-20 men conducting some sort of ceremony near a fire, but no hoods, etc. It was weird and rather ominous, since we were afraid of being detected. Our curiosity satisfied, we never checked it out further.
This is another idiot that equates the confederate flag with the KKK i live in a little town that rolls up the sidewalks at 6:00 pm and there’s confederate flags all over these people aren’t KKK members most of them just love the south !
Im in ohio start calling these people KKK and you’ll be swallowing teeth pretty quick ....
1990s Klan rallies? His neighbors were Klan members?
Who?? Is he famous for curing cancer? No, he makes $$$ from reading lines...
He probably saw some Amish kids gathered and just assumed all of those white people had to be a Klan.
There are several fraternities that have initiation rites that involve bonfires and torches.
One even burns a cross, but for a COMPLETELY different reason than the KKK.
The only activity I recall from “the Klan” in Texas in the 1990s was supporting the Clinton Federal government and offering their help to take out David Koresh during the Waco siege. There is news crew footage of it.
I think they’d driven down from Dallas.
How active was the Klan in Indiana in the 1980’s and 1990’s?
I don't know, but I have heard that there were Nazis in Illinois in 1980 ...
I would believe him if he was 84, but he’s 34. That means he was a kid 20 years ago. Does anyone seriously believe that in 1998 KKK rallies were common in Indiana and we never heard about them on the news? Really?
“There are likely less than one hundred KKK members in the entire country.”
And one third of those are federal agent plants and another third are paid informants for other federal agencies.
Indiana had a very active Klan.
In the 1920’s. He doesn’t look old enough to remember that.
