Cohen: Trump told me to pay off women to influence the election

President Trump’s personal fixer Michael Cohen admitted in court Tuesday that he paid two women hush money — “at direction of the candidate,” a clear reference to Trump — to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s name was not uttered but the implication was clear as Cohen admitted he cut a $150,000 check in 2016 to protect “the candidate.”

“On or about summer 2016, in coordination and with and at the behest of the candidate, I and the CEO of a media company worked together to keep an individual with information that would be harmful to the candidate from publicly disclosing this information … under which she received compensation of $150,000,” Cohen said in Manhattan federal court.

Obama’s team was PAYING voters on election night and the media knew.

You can't expect Democrats to be held to the same standards as anyone else.

No, it was to protect his reputation.

Any idiot who has Laney Davis as his lawyer, knowing that he is the Clinton’s lawyer, is too stupid to avoid jail.

Even if Trump did violate campaign finance reporting requirements, that’s not a high crime that supports impeachment.

Next it will be illegal for any non-Democrat candidate to try and influence his election in any way.

><

The way things are going, you’re exactly right.

Pathetic indeed. The quote does not match the conclusion. Of course he asked to pay her off to make her go away. That is what individuals and corporate entities do all the time to be able to go on about their business.

Seems the way it goes. Clinton started off on charges and ended up with a sexual encounter he lied about. We probably need to stop special councils.

Using your own money, for something that occurred before the campaign began is not any kind of legal or FEC violation.

Yea, we bought some campaign ads. GUILTY. You were trying to influence an election. Just another day (of many) where the liberals and MSM think they finally “got” Trump.

LOL liberals.

I’m still wondering why Daniels isn’t in court for violating a non-disclosure agreement — and why ‘they’ got away with raiding Cohen’s law office with a UHaul.

But walking around money is apparently different.

Michigan Dems Prepare For ‘Knock And Drag’ Phase
November 4, 2008

A little less than an hour before the polls close tonight, the Obama campaign will send its final shift of door-knockers out to the streets. In Michigan, the final mission of the day is called “knock and drag”: if volunteers find a Democrat who hasn’t voted, the volunteer is not to leave the doorstep until that person is off to the polling site.

The Obama campaign will also be sending volunteers out to busy precincts to keep voters from giving up. Some will be bringing water and snacks for waiting-weary voters.

The Obama campaign openly giving treats to voters. C’mon and vote for me!

This is horrifying, because no Presidential candidate in American history has ever paid anyone to try to influence the election.

"Influence the election" is language used to make the money look like an undeclared campaign contribution or some other violation of the law.

“I guess the Deep State is going to win.”

Give up much?

After all the brilliant ways President Trump has successfully managed the media & Congress & foreign leaders as he has, do you honestly think he’s stupid enough all of a sudden to lose to these people?

Puleeze.

I too voted for Donald Trump to influence the outcome of a federal election. I plan to turn myself in first thing in the morning.

If all Mueller/SDNY has is Cohen’s accusation based upon previously released audio wherein Trump said cut a check then Trump can plead ignorance in the court of public opinion since he didn’t know it was a campaign finance law to pay political blackmail in the run up to the election over something that allegedly happened ten years earlier.

That would, of course, be a civil case, in which Trump would be the plaintiff, and it would involve some nasty discovery which would be more painful to Trump than anything Stormy Daniels has done or possibly could do.

So? - even if they used campaign cash, it was simply buying a service for the campaign - you know, like hiring someone to read a campaign ad on the radio - in this case, they hired someone to keep her mouth shut......

A plea deal does not lead to deposition of witnesses. It’s a guilty plea, no trial, no witnesses, no depositions.

The purpose of this plea, which was written by the prosecutors is simply to smear the president with the appearance of campaign violations. Something they could never prove in court and is arguably not an actual violation of campaign law.

Cohen is in deep shit with his fraudulent attempts to shore up his taxi cab medallions investment and was strong armed with a potential 50 year sentence to agree to sell out his client with this smarmy paragraph in the plea agreement for the media to bleat about.

Yep, but it seems Mueller and the rest of the crooks in this silent coup are squeezing Cohen and making him their puppet, having him say this BS to make it seem as if Trump cheated. It’s utterly ludicrous, because wearing a nice suit could be considered “influencing the election”. It’s such a BS loaded term, that’s what politicians do while campaigning, they try to “influence the election” but I must say: I can’t recall Trump ever paying for a fake dossier to scam a judge so he could wiretap Hillary. That apparently is OK for Democrats to do isn’t it. I dont see any investigations going on over that.
