BOSTON (CBS) – Animal crackers are being released from their cages after 116 years.
You may not recognize the packaging of Nabisco’s classic treat Barnum’s Animals crackers the next time you’re in the grocery store.
The exotic animals – a zebra, elephant, lion, giraffe and gorilla – pictured on the box are no longer behind bars, but featured roaming around grass and trees.
The package redesign comes after pressure from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The group called for a change saying the outdated boxes showed the exploitation and cruelty animals are subjected to in the circus.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus shut down because of slow ticket sales in May 2017.

How ‘bout Feral Animal Crackers, depicting an inner city street scene that includes:
• ‘RAT mayors
• Ute chimps
• Loan sharks
• Drug mules
• Mexican coyotes
• Fast food ghettopotamuses

What do the animals identify as?

Next? I’m sure someone will complain that a section of Disneyland should lose the Jules Verne theming, because, well, you can’t really get to the Moon that way.
How I eat animal crackers:
First, I bite the head off, chew that, then the feet, then the body. Always in that order.
They go further that way.
Darn things have gotten so expensive, you have to.
Whew! Glad THAT world-altering issue has been resolved, after all these long, painful years.
PETA won’t stop here. I have to believe they have a problem with the whole idea of consuming animals, even if they’re made from cookie batter.
They caved to the Petanazis.
But it doesn’t matter to me, as I have been boycotting them for a few years over other “PC” garbage.
I remember when the box turned into a circus wagon. The wheels were perforated.

Thank goodness these people have their eyes focus like a laser beam on the problems of society.
I have great memories of seeing the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus show under the big top way back in 1953 Denver, Colorado. Watched the elephants work at putting up the tent, and all that.
Took my kids to see Circus Vargas and Carson and Barnes’ shows under big tops back in the 1980s.
Those days are gone now. Killed by liberalism and radicals. If I want to see a freak show, I simply go to the nearest college or University and watch the students.
PC horse crap.
This morning, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas, I’ll never know.
We tried to remove the tusks, but they were embedded so firmly we couldn’t budge them. Of course, in Alabama the Tuscaloosa, but that is entirely ir-elephant to what I was talking about.
