Like it or not, the Kardashians have risen from reality-TV stars — famed for sex tapes, plastic surgery and shotgun weddings — to America’s royal family. Critics have discounted the clan as an unfortunate blip on our cultural radar. But the ladies have taken their 15 minutes of fame and created a dynasty that might just be the most powerful in the world.
In May, Kim successfully lobbied President Trump to commute the prison sentence of a 63-year-old grandmother, Alice Marie Johnson, who had served more than 20 years on drug charges. Kylie, meanwhile, single-handedly tanked Snapchat’s stock in February — sending it plummeting $1.3 billion — with a disparaging tweet about the social-media platform’s redesign. That is true power.
And they’re not just making waves in the worlds of social justice and business. The family’s interracial relationships have been shifting societal norms since long before the Windsor family was lavished with praise for Prince Harry’s May marriage to mixed-race Meghan Markle.

Actually the British Royal Family is worth TRILLIONS of dollars due mostly (but not exclusively) to land holdings. I don’t think the Kardashians come close to that.

Surprised the story didn’t mention Kanye West, Kim Kardashian’s husband and the guy who “punched a hole in the universe” [Scott Adams] by endorsing conservative Black woman Candace Owens.
Trump is getting a lot of mileage from his association with the West family at least.

Aside from the fact this piece of trash never should have come within 1000 feet from this White House, I always have wondered why the guy who was with her and convicted of the same crimes did not get a pardon or sentence commuted as well.
When you say “piece of trash,” do you mean Kim Kardashian? If so, the reason she was in the White House was that President Donald J. Trump wanted her to be there. Can you think of any other way she could have been in the Oval Office meeting with him?
I think of “power” as the ability to coerce. The Kardashians (and Jenners and in-laws) have none. All their influence is freely given.
The Mountbatten-Windsors have some legal powers in Britain, in addition to the immense landholdings mentioned above.

Are you sure about that? If you look up “Queen of England net worth” it’s about $500M. Maybe there’s secret stashes somewhere, but that’s nowhere near “trillions”.

Well, the ability to bankrupt a billion dollar company based on a tweet . . . sounds like power to me.
