A Virginia man has been arrested for shooting another man in the middle of an argument about who should play Aretha Franklin in a film about the late singer.
Michael Jermell Hatton, 44, and Tony Jonathan Lundy, 47, got into an altercation in a barber shop in Suffolk County on Thursday morning.
The argument quickly turned physical when they got outside after Hatton pulled out a gun and allegedly shot Lundy at least once.
Witnesses told WAVY that the two men had been arguing inside the barber shop about which actress should play the Queen of Soul in a movie.
They were reportedly at odds over whether Halle Berry would be a good fit for the role.
Both men were rushed to hospital and Lundy remains in a serious condition.
When Hatton was released from hospital he was taken into custody on a slew of charges.

Aretha would be very disappointed about that shooting.
Try dueling boomboxes
LOL, the headline reads like two men fighting both wanting to play the role themselves.
>>Or Angela Bassett. She was always good but shes awesome in the TV show 911.<<
Too bad she is a jewel in a crap show. They should have just called it 9-1-SEX.
Not a bad choice but I still think she is a little too petite.
All they gotta’ do is find an overweight, loud, screaming at the top of her voice person to play Urethra Franklin. Can’t wait to not go to whatever it is that they make a movie of.
If the the guy who got shot wanted Whoopi to get the lead then he deserved it.
It should be a white woman - that would make it oh so edgy, just like having a black play Hamilton. And to really make it trendy diverse and vibrant, maybe a white man.
Hell, I would even settle for Rachel Doleal.
Easy, big fat Okra, or big fat Mooch Obama.
Easy, Charlize Theron. She’s from South Africa so that makes her more African American then Aretha, and she can log on 50 pounds no problem. But the racists for some reason aren’t going to want a bleach blond play her for some dam reason.
