Washington (AFP) - Former CIA directors and another half dozen of America's most senior spies have issued an unprecedented condemnation of President Donald Trump, after his decision to blacklist their colleague John Brennan.
In a statement, ex-CIA bosses appointed by Republican and Democratic presidents -- including Robert Gates, George Tenet, Porter Goss, Leon Panetta and David Petraeus -- denounced Trump's decision to strip Brennan of his security clearance.

Time to drop “Fat Boy”.
The swamp exists to trade secrets for power and money. Best thing that could happen would be to crush this ability. They would lose all value and this is why they (from both parties) are incensed at his action. Time to finish it, strip thousands and start with people out of government 3 plus years. No need for Madeline Notsobright to have access. Place a sunset clause on everyone of a year. Drop away!
This is not about their individual leanings...it is about their cashing in on their government “service”. Ya see, in the parlance of DC, access and info is what is used for making money.
My example: I was offered $250+K salary (3 times my salary) by a law firm representing an auto manufacturer while I was working for the G. The offer came by way of an acquaintanceship with the senior law partner. I told him I was not an attorney. His response, I can hire attorneys for a dime a dozen, I need someone with knowledge and access. I declined but it was tough to do.
Bill D Cat reference?
So, I still have my secret clearance from my previous USN days? I could’ve been rich if I’d colluded with the enemedia.
Admiral McKraven wrote a scathing letter to TRUMP & also said to take his clearance too, he was just a dirty commie pink partisan Liberal
Apropos. Should have gone with appropriate.
Makes one wonder why Brennan is so scared of losing his clearance. What does he need it for, huh???
Pull all their clearance! Mine was terminated the day I retired. What a pile od S^%T!
I beg to differ, it is all about monetizing their government service. The conflict statutes have enough holes to drive a Brink truck through IMO. Even if they do not get involved in representations with the government, they go to work with “think tanks”, Universities, and media using their experience and access as resume builders.
Just has to be posted again and again regarding how ludicrous this is.
Patreus complaining about revocation of security clearance?!?!
Ex-CIA directors issue unprecedented Trump condemnation
For these so-called patriots to back up an avowed communist Muslim for the highest office in the CIA only proves what our President has been saying.
The corruption in our “Intelligence” agencies is deep and complete.
Just who was it that got Bush to enter the war in Iraq. These very same agencies that said there were WMD’s there.
Don’t know if I can trust the “Intelligence” we are being given.
Wow!
I had nooooo idea.
What does it mean when these guys retain their clearances? Are they given briefs, have access to intelligence, or what? If theyre retired why do they need their clearance?
He was just a partisan hack like most if these IDIOTS
If they just STFU, their security clearance is pretty secure imho
::Exactly ... for folks who think they are so smart, theyre proving they aint so smart.::
Don’t any of those bums understand that they should at least put forth a position on WHY these galoots should keep their security clearances. For pity sakes, just give us ONE REASON. Do the ones signing this letter still have theirs?
The MSM talking heads can only bitch, moan and complain and yet not give one REASON why anyone should have them if they’ve left government. Only FOX has people speaking logic - they don’t need them - take them away NOW!
Trump - get off the horse and pull ALL security clearances from any former administration!
“”I had some security idiot from the late 1990s try to convince me that they spent $20k per each 5-year clearance””
That’s also the figure thrown around on FOX last night - probably Hannity’s show where Judge Jeanine was filling in.
Depends a bit on the individual being re-investigated. Some re-investigations cost well over $100,000 dollars. This is actually considered within normal today.
I am not saying it should cost like this, but it sure can.
Whoever threw out that number on Fox, is either misinformed, or whitewashing what what the tax payers will have to pony up.
It means that someone can share information with them and not be prosecuted for disclosing national security information or classified information.
If it were you and me. You retired from whatever Alphabet Agency you worked for and had one of these clearances. I was one of your guys. I tell you something. Someone gets wind of me telling you. All I have to say is that I shared the info w/ you for some opinion, guidance, possible solutions, because you’re such a subject matter expert. We both have clearances, so I can share it with you.
Now, if I share it with my brother in law, who’s a plumber by trade(no offense to plumbers), than we can both go to prison. Me, for giving it to him. Him, if he runs his mouth about it and doens’t report me.
You still have yours, b/c of whatever your MOS was. Not because they granted you a clearance and you get it for life. Without trying to put your life on the street, as it’s your business and not mine, if you still have one, than you weren’t just a regular military guy, doing regular military stuff. I’m thinking there’s more to your story than you’re letting on, but again, your business not mine.
Officers get TSs, for the most part, and when they get out, the clearance is put in an “inactive mode”. Doens’t mean they have access to anything. And, especially now, given all the people that have been caught leaking and selling info, the process is longer and the checks are more detailed. And you’re right, they are running names, credit histories, etc all the time now.
