A Missouri woman said shes hurt and distraught after being denied a job because her name was considered too ghetto but company officials insist a hacker sent the racist message.
Hermeisha Robinson, of Bellefontaine Neighbors, shared her experience with Mantality Health in Chesterfield in a Facebook post on Monday, saying she was discriminated against due to her name even though she had what it takes to fill the job post.
I have a public service announcement, Robinson wrote in an all-caps post. I am very upset because today I received an email about this job that I applied for as a customer service representative at Mantality Health I know Im well qualified for the position as they seen on my resume!
Robinsons post continued: They discriminated against me because of my name which they considered it to be ghetto for their company! My feelings are very hurt and they even got me second guessing my name trying to figure out if my name is really that ghetto.

Her name appears to be the feminine derivative of Hermes (Mercury): fast-moving “Messenger of the gods”
That said, the lady don’t appear to be too swift
It's one thing to have the surname Pole but then did the father really have to name him Dick as well?
Maybe it was a Johnny Cash "daddy wasn't going to be around" type situation.
LOL. “GIANT Johnson”. I bet he wears that proudly.
It’s actually not bad.
I mean believe me, I am the first one to make fun of ghetto names, some of them are just hilarious, but Hermeisha is not that bad IMO.
I don’t know how smart Hermeisha is though.
I like the names of a lot/some of the filipinos,, they know how to name their kids ..
It could have been worse...at least he was a pitcher and not a catcher...
What had happened was, I was writing my resume up and had misplet a couple of words, but I ain’t no dummy though. I can do that job best as anyone else could.
You misspelled “wuz.”
As a youth, I was an assistant manager at a crummy trinket store called Brookstone, and I took great glee in labeling my name tag “Ass Manager”.
I did lots of other bad stuff there too, that does not reflect well on me as a staunch conservative.
To this day, 20 years later, my home is filled with Tempur-Pedic pillows.
Uh, I'd say she's not qualified based on her grammar.
I would say that qualifies definitely as ghetto grammar which, applied to dealing with the public, is more relevant than her name.
Sheana?
If she were to interface just with local customers in Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri, she was unfairly treated.
If the customer care is nationwide, the company decision was appropriate and understandable.
Irrelevant, but interestingly, when I get a female customer rep with a southern accent on the telephone, I try to keep her on the line as long as possible. I love that accent.
Worked with a guy named Richard Sizer. Went by Dick. I told him I bought his product on the internet and it did not work at all...
Same here. We had a pastor named Richard Harden. He, too, went by Dick.
Wow. No clue what happened there but apparently my computer went a little haywire. Lol. I swear I wasnt drinking that early.
LOL....I don’t think it was ‘your’ computer...or drinkin’ :D
