Shelley Fabares - Lost Summer Love

"Great song and a beautiful young lady. The lyrics are especially true today. Summertime in our youth in the 60s. Optimistic and a future filled with promise. Sigh. Class and innocence. Can't find that in the female singers today. Where is my time machine?"

Seems that truer words were never spoken. I suspect that is a hundred or thousand times more true today than ever before. Leftists are tearing society apart.

I don't think it's that bad. The Left was just as devious and just as destructive in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, but they were able to keep it a secret.

The growth of inexpensive mass-media bandwidth forced them out in the open before they were ready to make their move. They've gone public because they had to, not because they wanted to.

As a result, their perfidy and foolishness is much more visible, and fortunately something close to a majority of Americans see this. That's why they're trying so hard to change the demographics of our country, it's their only hope, along with undermining the integrity of our elections.

Shouldn’t this be in chat?

Why does it matter?

Because in the last week or so there's been a strange shift in content chosen. Lots of nonpolitical fluff stories and stuff that gins up anger toward blacks. Almost ‘dream come true’ stuff liberals would wish for us... not saying there's a coordinated effort or anything... just that lots of really good political stories are NOT being posted.

Apropos of nothing other than your post, I also thought Ford could have made the reissue Tbird into a great success had they priced it a low lower. As I recall, they were nearly $40K. At the time, and maybe I am way off, a Taurus was $25K. Had they priced the Tbird at $30K or even cheaper, I think they could have tripled sales. Was there anything new and incredible there in terms of car tech? Other than the bodywork, not that I know of.

Agreed. But Ford (full disclosure: my dad worked for them as a tool & die make for 25 years, and I worked stamping and welding several summers during college) has a history of spectacular successes (Model T, Model A, Thunderbird Coupe, 1965-66 Mustang, Taurus series) and horrific failures (Edsel, the Pinto incendiary device). When they got it right they got it very right. When they got it wrong it was embarrassing.

My cousin worked there for 20ish years as an engineer. I remember in 2000ish when autombile sales were breaking all records and Ford stock was 28-30, I BEGGED him to lighten up on his stock. I think that was the highest Ford stock had ever been in the modern era. Nope.

As to the (then) new Tbird, I thot it would have been a perfect analog to the model A and T: Priced attractively, sure, not everybody wants a 2 seater “fun” convertible and not all that do would want American metal, but many would have tossed in and gone for it. And it was never a $45K car in any respect.

I love to watch the “kids” movies of the early 1960’s, the Beach movies and such. What a great time and there were so many wonderful, beautiful young actress’ in those films and TV shows. I would put that bunch up against any of today’s and even the 3rd rate girls of then would be better than what we have today.

Did numerous guest star appearances on TV for decades, after her initial fame on the Donna Reed Show. Co-starred as Craig T. Nelson’s girlfriend on “Coach” for nine seasons in late 80s/early 90s. Married to uber-lib Mike Farrell of M*A*S*H fame. Underwent a liver transplant after Coach went off the air and appears to be retired.

Great irony: Annette Funicello and Shelly Fabares were life-long friends. They met in junior high school.
