Greek banquets were all male but Roman banquets included women; that’s what I got from the readings.

I think I would have sat in one of the chairs with the women. I would hate to eat and drink lying down. They would probably have kicked me out of the party—if I hadn’t left before they could.

A Roman vomitorium was a corridor or passage way at an amphitheater that allowed many people to be seated, or to exit, rapidly. It wasn’t ever a place dedicated to Romans vomiting in order to make room for more food. That’s a myth.

The women guests sat in straight back chairs. They probably didnt get indigestion as much. Against indigestion and GERD, my doctor has me adjusting my bed on a slope, with the head about 4" higher than the foot.

I had the surgery to fix GERD. It didn’t.

There are a lot of marble counter tops in the Pompeii excavations.
