Debates over, “men, love your wives as Christ loved the Church” tend to glide over just exactly HOW MUCH He loved the Church and what He was willing to do for Her.
I agree. I suppose, in part, because there's no way men could measure up to that but it is the standard set.
My point is that in a Christ-centered society, the command to submit is not an unfair one because everyone is submitting to the Christ and church so the men aren't getting off scot free in the arrangement. In fact, many men must submit to unfair and unholy bosses. Women did not have that additional burden back in the days when a two-income household wasn't so necessary.
