I pointed out that Wikipedia did not mention if James graduated or not. But they claim on their page (or whomever wrote that page) that his going to St. Vincent/St. Mary’s “stirred up controversy”, not I.

There was a lot of controversy as his high school state championship was rescinded because he was caught with a brand new custom Hummer and his mom had moved into a new house, all while he was still in high school.
The Ohio Supreme Court finally ruled the high school could have the award, as the Hummer and house, which were paid by an agent, were future loans from that agent even though LeBron was not legally signed with that agent. The agent wasn't yet signed by LeBron since that would have been illegal but the twisted logic about the gifts actually being loans got LeBron and his high school the championship and may have saved him from some eligibility problems.

Then he gets a public school branded with his name by purchasing it with a “donation”. Somehow he got an even better deal from a local state university, the U. of Akron, that has named millions in scholarships for LeBron — without LeBron funding them. This is a troubled and corrupt institution and the president when this was set up had to step down in disgrace for his spending and other irregularities.
