"Ray was one of the former Michael Vick dogs a Vicktory dog, as this troupe is known.
And like so many of the dogs rescued out of the horrific Bad Newz Kennels in 2007, Ray went from the worst kind of cruelty to the sort of bliss only known to spoiled dogs who get to sleep in their indulgent humans beds.
Ray died last weekend, after surgery to have his spleen removed."...

Only when I have diarrhea. It blends in better and adds fiber.
The Llama and the Donkeys took out their owners?? Wow.
Never heard of it before but it I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise,
get a big animal with a lot of weight behind it pissed off with you, bad things can happen.
No, my posts don’t reflect that.
You have no idea how I feel or what I think about dogs, particularly large ones. You’re making assumptions about it based on my objection to dogs that are bred to kill.
There was no need for the breed to even be bred into existence except to kill for blood sport.
Not a very auspicious beginning.
As far as their *wonderful* traits, they have nothing to offer that any other large breed dog has to offer, with far less propensity to attack and kill unprovoked.
There are plenty of other large breed dogs that are intelligent, loyal, good watch dogs, great with kids, etc. without the inbred kill nature.
It doesn’t happen often-but Llamas and Donkeys are notoriously bad tempered-the large animal vets out here never will work on one without the animal’s owner and a vet tech being hands-on help-you can get a kick that will break your leg or worse-Donkeys always seem pissed off at the least little thing, and the few times I’ve approached a fence closer than 5-6 ft to look at a pretty Llama, I’ve been spat on-yech! The reason people have them here is that they make great guard animals-bad tempered, noisy and prone to attack-like I said, I prefer horses-and dogs are easier to control as guard animals...
If it were simply training, then ALL breeds across the board would have the equal propensity to attack and maul or kill.
I can’t, no make that don’t cause I’ve seen how people treat other breeds of dogs, believe that all other dog breed owners are responsible and train their dogs well, except for pit owners.
The Pitbull Terrier and the Bulldog were bred for fighting and bear baiting in Britain a couple of hundred years before any chollos/pachucos in the ‘hood ever heard of them-so were Mastiffs and Bullmastiffs-beautiful dogs-lots of them out here-two of the dogs-du-jour-but I would not approach one of them or any other neighbor’s guard dog without the owner telling the dog I’m okay-I don’t even get out of my truck in a customer’s driveway until the customer comes out to me-people did the same in my driveway when my Siberian Husky was alive-a guard dog is a guard dog. This is a rural area and different from cities and burbs-I would not have a large guard dog in a city-they are bred to a purpose and need to stay active and amused and I don’t think the city is an appropriate place for them-there is no need to stress the dog with a noisy, crowded environment-I think it is cruel-maybe people should be armed, like we all are out here-it beats getting sued and/or turning your companion dog into a neurotic and potentially biting wreck.
All of my dogs have loved cats and played with them-even my Husky-Huskies are supposedly vicious cat killers, but mine let my cats sleep on her bed with her for all 17 years of her life. My daughter’s AKC Pitbull shares food with her cats-my Husky girl never went that far-and she was not dogfriendly-especially small ones-my neighbor’s Yorkie loved to get under my gate when he was outside and had to be rescued from her jaws a couple of times-good thing it was winter-so he was wearing a little purple sweater that saved him.
And a goodly portion of the anti-pit bull *information* posted on this forum comes from Merritt Clifton who makes the HuffPo look like the Limbaugh Letter.
dogs can be trained. Most are not. Mine are an exception. Grew up with hounds, border collies, pointers, and cutting horses. No untrained animals on our place. Kids are trained too!
“If it were simply training...”
It’s not simply training. I wouldn’t want to be shrunk down to mouse size in front of the most well trained rat terrier.
“I cant, no make that dont cause Ive seen how people treat other breeds of dogs, believe that all other dog breed owners are responsible and train their dogs well, except for pit owners.”
Not sure what you mean here. I just want to know if trained pits attack their owners, and how that compares to other trained dogs. I am not defending pit bulls, maybe the trained ones do attack or snap.

Most of the pitbull articles I’v seen are just newspaper links to actual pitbull attacks.

I’m not discussing Pittys. I’m discussing the hate and vulgarity that fills these threads. Most of the really nasty stuff is spewed by the Pitty haters at other people.
Love the dogs, hate the dogs. But act like civilized adults. This is the last of these threads I will participate in. I will no longer tolerate the vileness that pervades them. I don’t take that crap from liberals and I damn sure won’t take it from ersatz conservatives.
Over all, even in other topics I see the deterioration of basic common courtesy on FR. If it wasn’t such a good clearinghouse of information I think I would just not bother anymore.
For the record, I don’t own a Pitty, I’ve worked with them as rescues and probably know more about them than most of the participants in these threads. But if I did own one (yes, I happen to like them), I would see no need to justify it to you or anyone else.
I will not respond to anything else in this thread. I have had my say.
