A former Formula One driver has designed an ultra-sleek new motorbike, known as the TMC Dumont, powered by a vintage 300-horsepower Rolls-Royce Continental V6 aircraft engine.
The futuristic ride has 36-inch hubless wheels – 'the largest wheels ever made for a motorcycle' according to the Brazilian creator Tarso Marques.
The wheels are fixed to the base of the rim giving the motorcycle the appearance that it is 'floating' on the road.
Creator Tarso Marques said he has been dreaming about the design for 15 years, which he describes as the 'most expressive event of customisation in the world'.
The motorcycle was built for the 77th Daytona Beach Bike Week rally event in Florida, where it was awarded the title of ‘Best in Show’ earlier this year.

It looks like the handlebars connect to the forks that connect to the linkage at 6:00 on the front wheel. That's the logical place for them to attach, because that's where the gyroscopic forces generated by the front wheel would be strongest.
I think you're right (I couldn't know, as I am not a motorcyclist), but it does have a striking appearance, doesn't it. Sort of Sci-Fi, like the cycles in “Tron”.
Turning is for peasants.
So the belt is also the rear tire? Interesting, although it would bring a lot of dirt and debris into the (presumably delicate) linkage mechanics.
It’s got to be hot sitting right behind that air cooled engine.
But when you go on your last ride, you will go looking good.
And one of the best aspects of a motorcycle (the hot blonde riding on the back behind you) has been totally eliminated.
Whoop-Te-doos would be a pain............literally.............
Interesting technology
Don’t think it well be replacing my duel sport any time soon.
One never knows what such innovation could lead to.
No headlights or tail lights.
I thing it may be the rear tire is contacted by the belt and spun that way. They don’t say, and the video doesn’t show................
With the mounting point at ground level, that ride must surely sucketh.
And I bet the turning radius is around infinity.
Looks like a flat 6 rather than the V6 mentioned in the story. Is it flat, or a really, really shallow V?

The more I look at it, the more I like it. I don’t know if it’s practical, but it is cool.
I like the big torque converter on the front of the engine.
It looks great but I can see a great deal of wear between the fixed rim and the rotating tires.
There's going to be a lot of dirt and ground-up asphalt particle build-up between the rims and tires. Lots of wear and tear.
It will require extra maintenance.
But it does look cool.
that is the ugliest thing i ever saw...not counting rosie o’donnell.
