I cannot see these guys finishing out the year.
My local paper, also a Gannett rag, is slowly being replaced by the USA Today rag.
The Sports section is so bad, so late to press, that it's worthless.
Despite reading newspapers since I was 6-7 years old (many moons ago), I won't miss this crap when they both finally fail.

Every Gannett owned local rag has been turned in to a USA Today with a few local articles repeated several times per week...e.g. The Arizona Repugnant

Mine too. A good half the content is from USAToday. I subscribed to my local rag starting August 1. Today my 2nd issue of the first week was not delivered, so I called and cancelled the subscription.

The quality of the newsprint was poor. I got the subscription for the local coverage, which was at least somewhat informational, but most of the USAToday content was crap.

There’s a free commie local weekly paper that is supported purely by advertising that covers some local issues pretty deeply. Plus it’s printed on surprising good paper that doesn’t bleed ink when you turn the pages.

I suppose most of the decline of the printed news is rightly attributed to the pervasiveness of the internet, but lowering the quality of old-time local papers just seems to be accelerating their demise.
