Yeah. I saw quite a bit of the world when I was a young man. Courtesy of Uncle Sam. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Saw more of it after I retired, again at someone else's expense. Never could have afforded it on my on.

He could do all sorts of things. And he is doing them. Who do you think is more likely to get that job working for a bookie - a young man fluent in latte-talk with 3 years experience behind the counter or a young man fluent in street-spanol back from 3 years in the turd world with a couple of snazzy scars and a look in his eye that says, "Yeah, I'll get the money for you boss"?

It takes EXTRA salary, not less, to travel the world. IDIOTS.

I would take a pay cut to live in a mansion on the beach, and drive a Lamborghini.

Absolutely; go for it!

Officers get more pay than enlisted, plus I believe degreed medical personnel get a bonus.

See the world, treat heroes, and give America back a little something.

What’s not to like?

Air Force medical personnel get basic training at Gunter Annex at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL where I retired. I live about 25 miles away, and retired here. I’ll even look out for her if she goes!

#67: " who decided to come near a police officer in Minneapolis, or Kate Steinle who went for a walk in a sanctuary city."

Neither Miss Damond's Somali in Minneapolis nor Steinle's Mexican in San Francisco are Americans. The leftists have imported this filth to rub in America's face. To volunarily travel to these countries is insane.

Father was in Air Force in Europe and North Africa. Work on f 86 fighters.
He was a crew chief. Missed Korea got out before VN. Will relay info to my daughter and your opinion.
Thanks for the info and your service

I know several people for whom “go in as an officer” worked out extremely well.

My daughter worked for a large hospital which paid for her nursing degree, in exchange for a five-year commitment to work there. She has recently completed her period of indentured servitude and is now making real money elsewhere.

I travelled extensively. Some for myself, mostly for work. People say, "Wow! It must be fascinating, I'm so jealous!"

Not so much. Travel becomes monotonous. I remember people; not places I've stayed or things I saw or food that I ate.

For instance, I worked for months in San Francisco. Saw all of the touristy things in the first couple of weeks, ate well, enjoyed myself. For the next 2-3 months, I saw the inside of the hotel and the inside of the office. People in cities are all the same, touristy spots are all the same, good restaurants are all the same. End of the day, I just wanted to go home and eat my wife's cooking in my own kitchen and sit in my own easy chair.

Flip side, I worked in rural Alabama for a month or so. People there were fantastic, I'd go back there for a visit in a heartbeat.
