Its really truly happening: Patrick Stewart has been cast in a new Star Trek series.
Stewart will reprise his iconic character, Jean-Luc Picard, for a CBS All Access series that will tell the story of the next chapter of Picards life.
Stewart himself just announced the news in a surprise appearance at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention.
I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course, Stewart said. It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.
Stewart added that now, in particular, seems like a good time to bring back the character, who exemplified calm, moral, reasoned leadership. During these past years, it has been humbling to hear many stories about how The Next Generation brought people comfort, saw them through difficult periods in their lives or how the example of Jean-Luc inspired so many to follow in his footsteps, pursuing science, exploration and leadership, he said. I feel Im ready to return to him for the same reason to research and experience what comforting and reforming light he might shine on these often very dark times. I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we endeavor to bring a fresh, unexpected and pertinent story to life once more.
It will have even more left wing social Political Correctness than ever. Bet on it.
I am literate.
I don’t have the sort of vegetable mind which watching today’s television instead of reading requires.
Who cares?
Sigh. They could come up with something new if they really tried to.
Star Trek: set wheelchairs on stun.
If they put Picard in a red shirt, I might just watch it.
Let me guess — he comes out of the closet and marries a french guy named Pierre and they live in a space winery on Cyguns 7.
Hilarity ensues when he finds all his grapes are blue and Pierre decides to pawn his wine off as Romulan Ale.
Yeah really, 78 year old Jon Luc from France. Make it so green skin chick. French wine is time. Oh Gee, I need to go water the lawn. High school football starts Thursday 08/16/2018 Rome vs Marietta Barron Stadium. Be There.
“Patrick Stewart to star in new Star Trek TV series”
I heard it was going to be called: “Star Trek: The Wheelchair Edition, going where no wheelchairs have gone before” ...
“space winery” ... you own me a new laptop keyboard, I just ruined this one ...
Never saw that two-parter or whatever, with Cap'n Pike in his motorized doohickey?
Star Trek XXXIII in search of a plot. Capt Prickhard loses his Walker... how does this episode end ... Depends
I would at least like them to try to replicate the original.
Have the original characters portrayed by new people. Kirk should be a young athletic guy. McCoy and well all of them by someone who at least resembles their original actors.
They will never do it tho.
I could never get into TNG otherwise known as the ‘pillow biter generation. ‘
A bald-headed frenchie as capitain...give me a break. Make it so number 1.
I have five unplugged TVs. I think it pretty much a great waste of time, which is one of our greatest assets. I will watch and enjoy “Gun Smoke” when visiting a friend in an assisted living home. He has a few other shows on I kind of will watch, too, as I enjoy his company and FR.
What I never understood about Star Trek. They could fly through the Universe at warp speed, they could beam down to planets, they could make robots that act and look just like humans, but they still couldn’t find a cure for baldness?
Good for you.
Folks who brag about not watching TV are virtue signallers.
Those who say they have no TV are probably living in a homeless shelter or an asylum.
Or liars... pick one.
