Zero Hour is commemorated at 1700 hrs local time every August 1st with one-minute’s howl of air-raid sirens to mark the start of the insurrection.

There is nothing new under the sun and there already was a Generation Zyklon. No, they didn’t gas anyone, but they fought like warriors to take back their city. And they won — seven decades later, the city belongs to them. There is special lore about the kids who took part in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. Boys as young as ten fought as riflemen, boys and girls served as nurses’ aides, barricade builders, and couriers who navigated through sewer tunnels.

The Warsaw uprising in 1944, was not the Warsaw ghetto uprising in 1943. Who is this guy?

If you've ever watched that movie "Uprising" -- the scene where the Germans march in column into the ghetto, singing the "marche Erika"? More Germans died in that scene of the movie, than died in reality during the entire Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The Germans suffered a few dozen casualties -- the resistance, over 13000. If ever there was a textbook example against gun control this is it.

There were two Warsaw uprisings. One was the Jewish uprising in 1943, and the other was in 1944.

The Nazis sent in their worst of the worst SS troops in Warsaw 1944. The Dirlanger Brigade.. If I remember my history, most of them died in this battle.

The Warsaw Uprising, summer 1944, the biggest urban uprising in European history. The uprising of the doomed and heroic. The Poles desperate to take back control of the city that was their national heart before the Soviets could do it. If the Poles were there first to greet Stalin's minions then the Poles had a shot at not being subjected to a Fifth Partition of Poland and become a Soviet Russian satraphy. Of course FDR wasn't about to really squeeze his great friend Stalin to if not air drop supplies to the Poles then let the USAAF put on a major press to do it. The whole story of that doomed uprising makes on violently sick to read and then when the Germans emerged victorious on a heap of ruins the Poles were slandered as being reactionary neo fascists by the usual leftist scum in the media here and in the UK.

You are mixing two events up. The Warsaw Ghetto uprising was in 1943 and was the Jews only in the Warsaw Ghetto. It was not the entire city like in 1944.

The Warsaw uprising in 1944 was the entire city. Christians, etc and a lot of the battle were fought in the Sewers. Think they called it the war of the rats? It occurred when the Soviet Army was just outside the city.

Stalin encouraged the Warsaw resistance to attack the Nazis and said it would trigger the Soviets to attacking the city. The Resistance was happy to do this because they were miserable under Nazi rule. However, that never happened. The Soviets waited outside the city while the Resistance and the Nazis fought each other to the death. A lot of people were killer. After it was over then the Soviets moved in.

Stalin had lied to the Warsaw resistance because Stalin did not trust everyone. So he rather have them all get killed by the Nazis before moving into Warsaw. The Nazis won the battle because they outgunned the resistance and the Soviet army waited.

Hitler and the Nazis were so mad what occurred they burned down almost the entire city. This was not like the Jewish Warsaw ghetto uprising in 1943 where it was limited to the Warsaw ghetto.

I know there are a couple of movies that capture it. One is The Pianist. where towards the end of the movie you see where the main character sees almost the entire city of Warsaw is gone. The Nazis were following Hitler’s scortched earth order on Warsaw. In the movie you see Nazis with flame throwers burning down each building with a flame throwers.

There was another movie called in 2011 called In Darkness that covers a resistance member that saves a lot of Jews through the Warsaw Sewers. This was during the occupation. He knew the Sewers very well since he was a worker It was like a tunnel system throughout Warsaw. At the end of the movie I think it shows the Warsaw uprising in 1944? Anyhow, you get the idea. At one point the Nazis decided to flood the tunnels since they lost too many giys in the Warsaw Sewer system.

Anyway just wanted to let you know it was two different events.

I’ve seen this one before. I did not see it,but I think someone took real balck and white photos from the Alies of the city afterwards and with technology, color and computer animation they have been able to blend it together.

That way people see what Warsaw looked likein October of 1944. This was right before the Soviet Army went in. You can’t see any life in the city. It was ghost town. Pretty crazy and sad.

There was a Polish movie about the Warsaw Uprising that focused a lot on the sewers. It was called “Kanal” and was shockingly brutal in its real-life portrayal of what that kind of fighting was like.

Also, the Sen. Internal Security Subcommittee, Sen. Judiciary Committee, 1969, published an 18 page report entitled “Warsaw Insurrection: Communist Version Versus Facts”. Well worth trying to find on the internet.

Unfortunately the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising ended badly for the Jews and the Poles. Without armor and heavy weapons it was only a matter of time before they were over whelmed by superior German forces. And Stalin, that bastard could have sent the Red Army to their aid but instead he didn’t. He let Hitler do his dirty work for him.
