President Donald Trump on Tuesday wrongly claimed that shoppers need to show photo identification to buy groceries and accused Democrats of obstructing his agenda and his Supreme Court nominee during a raucous rally aimed at bolstering two Florida Republicans ahead of the state's primary. Trump, addressing thousands of supporters in one of the nation's top electoral battlegrounds, also mounted a rigorous defense of his trade agenda, accusing China and others of having "targeted our farmers."
"Not good, not nice," he told the crowd as tensions with China continue to escalate, adding: "You know what our farmers are saying? 'It's OK, we can take it." The Trump administration last week announced plans for $12 billion in temporary aid to help farmers deal with retaliatory tariffs from U.S. trading partners in response to Trump's policies.
Tuesday night's freewheeling rally lasted more than an hour and included numerous attacks on the media, as well as one glaring false claim. Trump was railing against the idea of noncitizens voting and advocating stricter voting laws when he claimed that IDs are required for everything else, including shopping.
"If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID," he said at the event at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. "You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID and you need your picture."

In Massachusetts one must have photo id on their EBT card.
I have to show ID to cash a check, make certain payments, get into many buildings, buy certain groceries, check into a hotel.
Heck, I once made a wrong turn in Orlando and ended up in a far-flung Disney parking lot. I had to show the guard an ID just to turn around.
Dear MSN and AP:
Try to get into a Costco or Sam’s Club without an ID.

I completely agree. Believe it or not, I have to show a photo ID to vote in Michigan.
I’ve had to show an id in order to return merchandise at Walmart.
Spray paint, too.
“I completely agree. Believe it or not, I have to show a photo ID to vote in Michigan.”
I showed up to jury duty a couple years ago and they did NOT want to see my ID.
Last time I voted (GA) I walked up to the table and they asked for my ID.
I said “what if I don’t have it?”
The guy said “then you don’t vote”
I said well “I heard that you don’t need an ID to vote”
and the guy said “in Georgia you do”
I said “good”
You do if you’re writing a check.
So he failed to say “if you pay with check or credit card”, big deal.
Many stores ask for photo ID when you use a credit card.
The truth of the matter is all this righteous indignation from the left is a huge lie. The only reason that makes sense they would do this is to perpetrate voter fraud...and perhaps to protect illegal aliens. Only a fool would think otherwise.
He obviously didn’t mean when you pay with cash.
Or if you are buying smokes or a 6 pack of Coors.
I’ve heard now that nail polish remover has been added to the list in some places.
I believe most credit cards have picture......perhaps if media put 2 and 2 together they would understand where POTUS is coming from. But, their objective is to find fault with this President....no matter how small the issue.
Or if you purchase something the sale of which is limited to adults - and the list is growing.
I saw a headline this AM regarding "Q" and its presence at yesterday's Trump rally.
I thought, "hmmm, this might be interesting."
Then I noticed it was a WaPo story, and quickly moved on to something else.
If you use a credit card they are supposed to ask too.
Or if your cart includes tobacco, alcohol, butane lighters, or anything else that is age restricted.
