AURORA, Colo. (AP) A man who fatally shot an intruder in his suburban Denver home early Monday was killed by responding officers who saw him holding a weapon, investigators said.
Police received multiple calls about a break-in at the home at about 1:30 a.m., and when officers arrived, they heard gunshots inside, The Aurora Sentinel reported .
Aurora police, who described the scene in a statement as very chaotic and violent, said they encountered an armed man and fatally shot him. That man turned out to be the person who lived in the home. A second man, the suspected intruder, was found dead during a search.

So have the police just kill every armed person? Interesting philosophy.
Problematic behavior by Police are encouraged by apologetics. No excuses, no apologies accepted, jail time and personal financial culpability. That will reign in cops.
The homeowner was a Vietnam vet who earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His wife was also wounded and is in surgery. The report doesnt' say whether she was also shot by the police, but it did state that she called 911 and gave the police a description of her husband.
OMG this is terrible. Sad.
Aurora in the 70’s was not nearly as sketchy.
‘Rats’ fault.
Elsewhere someone commented, “Poor guy was white, so no riots for you.”
Won’t let me read the article.
Barney Fife lives on?
It’s OK, it was a White Guy.
Shouldn’t this be in New/Activism instead of Chat?
I keep reading liberals all for that idea. Since open carry was ruled for Calif and Hawaii, a lot of liberals are enthused by the though having cops shoot everyone carrying, just on general principles.
The fact that they rid themselves of troublesome conservatives never occurs to them of course. It is for the children.
Aurora Colorado is where my nephew is a firefighter. It’s east of downtown Denver on Colfax Ave. and is a pretty rough side of town. My brother had a body shop on Colfax for fifteen years. Denver is a great town, but the pot-heads took over Lodo,(lower downtown) and people avoid going down there now. 16th street Mall is filled with dope smoking hippies who crap in the street and generally make life miserable for the denizens of downtown Denver
Terrible situation, one I have always feared if I had to self-defend at home. Without being there it’s not possible to judge anything, not nearly enough information and the article could contain mistakes.
“Why give him a warning? Could be dangerous for [the police].”
Obvious sarcasm
“So have the police just kill every armed person? Interesting philosophy.”
SOP in many police departments now.
FYI
Scared Sh*tless while approaching the house! If pistol can be drawn from holster without dropping said pistol the officer will shoot to kill anything that moves anywhere in his (?) vicinity.
Better to call 811 - DigSafe
He became a lieutenant in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions, according to a newspaper clipping provided to The Denver Post. Military service ran in the family: Blacks father was a World War II veteran who fought at the Battle of the Bulge, said his half-sister, Elisa Black-Taylor, who lives in South Carolina.
Agreed. I guess Im just an old man now yelling get off my lawn. There is so much wrong these days.
Actually no. Im on the upper income 2-4 percent white male thats never had an issue with the law. Honestly I fear cops more than criminals. I can shoot a criminal in self defense. Not so with out of control cops.
Think about it. Some one beats your wife down, breaks into your house assaults your kids, kills your dog ... you can fight back. Now put the police uniform on that same person and you are defenseless. That is not right.
Police no longer protect and serve but are roided up sub 90 IQ thugs. Its what we created. Its our fault so I stand against it. I dont approve of modern law enforcement on average. Sheriffs are slightly different than your local, city state cops. Here at least.
