From time to time I've been catching up with a Republican strategist who is trying to help the GOP keep control of the House in this November's midterm elections. It's been an up-and-down ride.
"I would put the odds of keeping the House at exactly 50-50," he told me in January.
"I get how bad things seemingly are," he said during a particularly tumultuous time in April. "But if the election were today, I'd bet my son's college tuition we'd keep the House."
He was even more confident by June. "We keep the House," he told me. "I'd bet a lot of money on that." And now: "The last 30 days have been really bad. I really wouldn't want to have the election today."
Looking back, each change in the strategist's mood has been the result of whatever President Trump was doing at that particular moment. His current anguish is the product of what he called "30 days of sh-t." By that, he meant the period of time beginning with Trump's decision to separate families crossing illegally into the United States and ending with his performance at the Helsinki summit.

We already have vicious attack ads here (primaries).
They are way too busy calling each other names to mention the letter T. :-)
Not worried. The GOP is filled with gutless bedwetters.
If they STOOD UP for the President they might get the idea that all is not lost. Instead they quake in fear of the media.
No wet noodle York. The odds are very very good Trump keeps the House. The DC Swamp isn’t going to get off that easy.
Is the examiner anti Trump these days?
Strategists have to pretend to be going through the agony of creativity in order to make it seem that their cunning observations and suggestions have saved the day.
A friend in FL said people have been lining up for at least 1-1/2 days. Blue Wave, ya think?
“Governor William J. Le Petomane: We’ve gotta protect our phoney baloney jobs, gentlemen!”

Byron is a hand wringer.
This is the thing that has been so eye opening in the Trump era. GOP-E politicians, like Paul Ryan etc, are actively working against their party's own poltical interests because their paymasters demand it of them.
Treason for ideological reasons is bad enough, treason simply for a payday is treason most foul.
Harrumph, harrumph!
The information warfare practiced my leftists is endless. They will say anything to fool people into doing what they demand. No one knows what the probability of the election out come is. Probabilities must be based upon past facts and since there is the human element of elections, it is impossible to discern a probability, or at least a probability that is worth paying attention to. If they are not at least at the 90% confidence level, probabilities are not really worth it.
Of course, we all learned this reality in 2016 when the going stat was a HRC win was 90%+ probable. Of course, then she lost.
Go out and vote, folks. It is the only way to make probabilities into facts and to ensure the loss of demo_rats.

Yeah...right!

In days past they were at least careful to provide themselves some cover.
President Trump has ripped away their camouflage and exposed them publicly.
Even John Q Public, normally unaware, is seeing their true nature.
“Treason for ideological reasons is bad enough, treason simply for a payday is treason most foul.”
Well put.
Hey, I didn’t get a harrumph out of that guy!
Byron York pffffft. LOL
The careerist beltway GOP just have no fight in them. Pathetic beyond words. Surrender monkeys.
"I didn't get a harrumph from that guy!"
If they stand up for Trump, they admit that they as politicians are utterly worthless compared to a businessman.
Who you picking...in the series?
