Alan Alda announced Tuesday that he has Parkinson's disease.
Alda -- the Emmy award-winning actor who starred in the long-running series "M.A.S.H." as beloved combat doctor Hawkeye Pierce -- said in an interview on "CBS This Morning" that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015.

As for MASH, as soon as Alda opened his mouth, you could count on an anti-American snarkfest.
Even the premise of the show was A TENT showing Americans enduring pain from their injuries.
I put MASH in the same Hollywood trash-bin as a show with Americans in a German POW camp. There's no comedy in WWII or Korea.
You’re probably right but he did emulate the post-Vietnam anti-everything military and America during that period. By today’s standards he was an old schol Lib., you’re right. We were so cynical...

Another very genuine person is Dan Aykroyd; very approachable and kind.
Charles Kuralt was delightful, as was Max Showalter and Debbie Reynolds.
Morley Safer, not so much...he always seemed to have a stick up his butt.
