We are reaching a dead-end. The greatest threat to the future of Europe is neither Russian adventurism nor Muslim immigration. The true Europe is at risk because of the suffocating grip that the false Europe has over our imaginationsan empire of money and regulations, covered with sentiments of pseudo-religious universalism, that is being constructed by the European Union.
The true Europe has been marked by Christianity. The universal spiritual empire of the Church brought cultural unity to Europe...This has allowed for particular civic loyalties to flourish within a shared European culture. Our gentle virtues are of an unmistakably Christian heritage: fairness, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, peace-making, charity. Christianity revolutionized the relationship between men and women, valuing love and mutual fidelity in an unprecedented way...Christian roots nourish Europe.
The true Europe also draws inspiration from the Classical tradition. We recognize ourselves in the literature of ancient Greece and Rome. As Europeans, we strive for greatness, the crown of the Classical virtues. At times, this has led to violent competition for supremacy. But at its best, an aspiration toward excellence inspires the men and women of Europe to craft musical and artistic works of unsurpassed beauty and to make extraordinary breakthroughs in science and technology. The grave virtues of the self-possessed Romans and the pride in civic participation and spirit of philosophical inquiry of the Greeks have never been forgotten in the real Europe. These inheritances, too, are ours. Classical roots encourage excellence.
The true Europe has never been perfect. The proponents of the false Europe are not wrong to seek development and reform, and there is much that has been accomplished since 1945 and 1989 that we should cherish and honor...But the future of Europe rests in renewed loyalty to our best traditions, not a spurious universalism demanding forgetfulness and self-repudiation.

I disagree, muslim immigration is the greatest threat.
The countries with the highest levels will be the first to have their history and heritage erased.
European civilization will only survive in eastern Europe because they are refusing to submit, first to the EU and lastly to Islam.
This is classic gobbledygook.
Agree on all points.
Western Europe is done.
They will slaves to the moslems, or slaves to Putin. Maybe both.
It’s just a matter of who gets them first.
Only a Christian revival will save them. But that is the one thing they will never do - they would rather embrace Islam as it allows them to continue their rebellion against God.
Hungary is doing the right thing.
The rest of Europe should follow their example.
No, it is the saracen invasion.
It’s a combination of all the above. It’s good to see Italy fighting back against this invasion of rapefugees. The next step is to round them all up and send them right back where they came from so they can rebuild their own country instead of trashing others too.
If you read the statement, it says the globalist, anti-Christian, ATTITUDE, which made the Muslim invasion possible...is the real problem. Take the Muslims out of Europe...and you still have that stupid attitude....the root of the problem.
“Muslim Immigration” in Europe is not the biggest threat. The biggest threat is the self-destructive, false narrative forces in Europe that have ascented to the massive Muslim immigration. The creators of the problem are the problem. Muslim immigration is a consequence, and just one, of the larger problem.
THAT is what the authors are attempting to get across.
Unlike the EU, the authors accept and affirm national sovereignty and diversity of nations as an essential of what makes Europe Europe and they are not things that can be tossed away on some so-called “greater” utopian “unity”.
Or, look at it this way: Muzzie immigration is a means used by the EU elites to gain their goal (as stated in the article) of destroying a Europe of independent nation states.
Without that, there would not be this muzzie immigration. Cause, effect.

Ideologists tend to dream large and perform small, and some of their Big Ideas don't bear up very well under scrutiny. One is that people can change their very character at will, another is that they can be talked into trying. A third is that they can be forced to do so.
The authors have very rightfully pointed out that it was the advent and pervasion of Christianity that was responsible for the rise and domination of European culture and hope that a reaffirmation of this is the means toward a stronger overall society, assuming that such a thing is even possible at this point. Europe "killed God" first in Nietzsche's terms ("killed", probably not, infuriated maybe) there has been no secular replacement worthy of the name, although Hegel certainly tried to stick the State into that role, with some obviously disappointing results counted in 20th century bloodbaths.
Be that as it may, it is curious that in the eyes of the New European the causes of war and oppression have been fixed on nationalism, curious because prior to the Thirty Years' War, that same accusation was levied against Christianity itself, whose adherents in different approaches managed to butcher one another quite as effectively as Frenchman ever slaughtered Spaniard after that watershed conflict. The constant here is war, not its putative "causes". Suppressing nationalism in the name of some other form of identity is is little likely of success as suppression of Christianity has been, and yes, Christianity has been suppressed both legally and culturally.
Whether the removal of that suppression will result in a reestablishment of what the authors are really after, core Christian morality, without reestablishing the inherent internal conflicts, is very difficult to predict. Certainly there is a demonstrable resurgence in countries such as Russia following three-quarters of a century of formal suppression; how far that is likely to make its way into public policy is still very much in question. But it does speak to a certain remarkable resilience.
And so to the overall European identity, more typified in current doctrine by what it is not - not Christian, not warlike, not oppressive - than any sense of what it actually is. Europe, in less strained ideological definition, is a geographical area extending from the Atlantic to the Urals, from the North Sea to the shores of Africa, inside of which that celebrated diversity of identity is proving a little difficult to change by war, propaganda, or forced demographic alteration. Maybe it shoudn't be. Maybe it can't.
