MINNEAPOLIS Authorities in Minneapolis released body camera video Sunday from two police officers in the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old black man, with the footage showing the man shot from behind after a frenetic foot chase and what appeared to be a gun in his hand.
Officers Justin Schmidt and Ryan Kelly were responding to a 911 call of a man firing a gun into the air on the city's north side June 23. The video shows them pulling their cruiser up and a man Blevins seated on a curb near a woman with a child in a stroller. As the officers pull up, one says, "He's got a gun!" Blevins jumps up and runs, as the officers yell "Stop, stop! Put your hands up! I will (expletive) shoot you!"
In a chase that takes less than a minute, Blevins yells back, "I didn't do nothing bro," ''Please don't shoot" and "Leave me alone." An enhanced version of the video has a red circle drawn around Blevins' hand to highlight what appears to be a gun.
After the chase turns down an alley, Blevins is shot, still running.
Investigators said both Kelly and Schmidt fired their weapons. An autopsy showed Blevins was shot multiple times.

These body cams are a very good thing in a polarized political environment.
Yes. There’s no question in my mind that this was a good shoot.
Possession of a gun leads to a shooting. Hmmmm.
“Appeared to be a gun.” Was it?
The article seems to have omitted pertinent info.
I’m thinking he was waiving the gun around and that it was why someone reported him. If he was legitimately carrying it, he only had to obey the cops commands and get things straightened out.
He was firing the gun into the air and ground according to the 911 calls prior to the officers arriving on scene. The perp had prior felony convictions for assaulting police officers and was prohibited from possessing firearms.
911 calls (more than one) reported a man firing a gun into the air and into the ground.
The cops roll up and see the gun in the waist band.
The suspect flees, ignoring commands to stop and drop the gun.
During the chase, the suspect pulls the gun from his waist band.
The cops shoot and kill him.
The suspect is a felon. He has NO right to be in possession of a firearm. There is NO possibility that he was carrying a firearm “legitimately”.
These facts are being ignored, for the most part, by the local media.
The body cams are a great tool in sorting this all out. But, how about some basic forensic work?
Check the gun. Had it been recently fired? Finger prints? Gun powder residue on the suspects hands and clothing? Where is all of this evidence and why isn’t it part of this report?
This case should have closed within days of the incident.
Appeared to be a gun. "Was it? The article seems to have omitted..."Of course the media "omitted" the fact that the bodycam video shows - that beyond anybody's doubt or how poor their eyesight - he did have a gun!

Gun is seen on perp's hip from 6:25 on and below is screen capture from 7:14, after he is shot and on the ground:
WHERE is the body cam from the Somali who murdered the Aussie chick in Minnesota? Hmm?
Sitting on a shelf somewhere, still not turned on.
No charges filed against the two officers.
I usually take grief for defending cops.
But if I catch an armed man on my property, or even in my house, and I chase the the man out into the street, and shoot him in the back...guess what happens to me.
If any civil disorder or attacks on police results, any "news organization" or "journalist" who had that video and said only "Appeared to be a gun" should be criminally charged with incitement and civilly sued for damages by victims.

It doesn't matter whether real or toy it was unquestionably a gun and even though real gun or a toy can't be determined by the video - neither could that be determined by the cop whose life hung in the balance.
But what would a leftwing PC ass-sucking journalist care about that?
“The Federation maintained from the start that the officer’s actions during this incident were heroic. The body camera footage exemplifies this. The officers did exactly what the public expects them to do. They responded to 911 calls of a person shooting a gun, they located the suspect, gave numerous orders for him to comply, pursued the suspect as he fled, they were forced to fire at the suspect only after he pointed a gun and fired at the officers. The officers deserve the Minneapolis Police Department’s highest award, The Medal of Honor and the respect of the population it swore to protect.”
It has now been confirmed that Blevins did discharge his weapon during the chase. A shell casing was found near his body and has been matched to his weapon.
