I've been doing a little before sleep reading of my old journals as I lay in my bed at night
and I came upon this segment from the time of Watergate, that strikes me a relevant again, and perhaps more so, in these days...

'Read something in Plato's Gorgias that seems to apply to the current situation in the U.S.A.'...

"When the state attempts to bring any of its public men to account as wrong-doers, I find that they take it very hard and raise a great outcry that they are being monstrously treated;
their complaint is that after all the benefits they have conferred on the state it is most unfair that they should come to ruin at its hands."

We learn as children to scream, stomp, tantrum until we get our way if not corrected. My reward for being lugged around shopping all afternoon with my mom was ice cream at the end of the day. If I was overly difficult on a particular day, ice cream was denied. Tantrum ensued.

Years later, the perk of ice cream becomes the perk of power/authority. Try taking or lessening the power of an entitled one and expect tantrums. Many of them are still children, after all.
