Way back I posted about project lifelog before it was brought to darpa. With Robert sheilds and Steve Mann. They made several presentations to Natick army labs which is 17 miles from Harvard where zuck supposedly invented Facebook

I knew there were probably some other names who had also made the claim. While I’m interested in the claim of Michael McKibbee, the zeitgeist being what it was, it is very possible for others to have done parallel invention too. Sorta like Tesla and Marconi.
WHovever actually DID invent FB, I am very happy to think it was someone OTHER than MZ or DARPA. But.... I guess we shall see.
I agree they probably merged the work of several different projects probably still do.

Facebooks Push for Facial Recognition Prompts Privacy Alarms
Face recognition technology allows us to help protect you from a stranger using your photo to impersonate you, Facebook told its users in Europe.
It was a risky move by the social network. >>>Six years earlier, it had deactivated the technology in Europe after regulators there raised questions about its facial recognition consent system.<<<
Now, Facebook was reintroducing the service as part of an update of its user permission process in Europe.
Funny, I worked with some scientists who were working on DARPA projects in the early aughts. Nothing to do with social engineering, they were molecular biologists. But they would go to lots of DARPA conferences and the like and looking back, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they had clearances.
Point being, when Facebook came along this couple adamantly REFUSED to have anything to do with it. Never said why, just uh, no. I’ve often wondered if they knew more about the project than they ever admitted.
